Lake Spivey Golf Club

I'm about a year into golf. I love this course. Some of the greens were a little patchy today. But I really like coming here. I'm getting better.

This is a good course. I really like the layout BUT the greens are AWFUL. The recent review that said a "few of the greens are less than perfect but playable" wasn't playing the same course as me. I would say a few of the greens were in decent shape but the rest were awful. Most of the greens had 2 different types of grass plus weeds which meant speed was inconsistent, not just from green to green but on a single putt. On #4 i had a 20 foot putt, the first 10 feet was through grass that looked like fairway grass mowed down, and the 2nd 10 feet through typical green grass. On #6, it looked like someone had taken a shotgun and blown holes in the green. Less than 5 feet from the cup was a hole the size of a baseball, and there were at least 2 dozen smaller holes. At least put sand in the holes. Do not play this course until they get the greens under control.

Everything is in pretty good condition with just a few of the greens being less than perfect but still very playable. Enjoyable round for sure.

This course offers a good challenge, but it needs to be kept up. Most of the greens were in subpar condition.

Overall an enjoyable course, definitely needs some tender loving care. Probably due to excessive rains over the last few weeks but fairways hadn’t been mowed for several days& greens were very slow. All but one green was in decent shape but were a little shaggy & slow. The bar/ restaurant were not open so no food available. No cart girl or rangers on the course. Could be an excellent course with some money put into it. The layout of the course was good with very enjoyable holes. The cars were nice with excellent GPS on the cart. Overall a 6.5 out of 10 rating.

LS has always been a good value but I was sort of taken by the fact that it was not as good of a condition it has been in the past. With all the rain, it thought it should be better. In fairness, the previous rains made it tough to mow but it was just OK today.
