You get what you pay for.
Only came here for to try a new course since it had a hot deal and it’s just not in the best shape. Greens aren’t bad but fairways are uneven, cart paths are terrible and i my cart lagged for 30 seconds every time i hit the gas petal. It would take a lot of improvements for me to come back.
Could be better.
The pace of play was really bad. First 9 took my group (of 4) 3 hours and 10 minutes, mainly because we sat around waiting for groups ahead to clear out for so long, but it wasn't the leading groups fault neither, since they themselves were waiting on groups ahead of them. This is entirely how many groups sent out the groups. My group starting time was 9:40, but we could not tee off until 9:50+.
It rained the night before, so general wetness of the course couldn't be helped. Fairway was good, teebox could use better leveling job but it was passable, but green was rough. Lot of places where weed is growing out and changes putt direction, hole cups were absolute trash, and acts like a ramp (edges of hole cup was worn out so much if ball comes at it fast enough, it just skips through it).
awful
course has good bones but is in awful condition.hard to believe that it was renovated two years
Would play for free
Decided to make the drive and play a new course on a hot deal. Got to the course to find out they closed the front 9 so I had to play the back twice. Course does not drain at all. Felt like I was driving around Jurassic park or running a mudder. Not a fan of the overall course layout.
Thankfully the staff and group I was paired with were great.
Great course
Needs some work on the fairways and some Tlc around the edges but overall a great course.
sugar bleak
The course didn’t have any available carts, as all were in use. The lady said it would be a while, she was very rude when I asked “how long do you think”? GolfNow is not on the same page as this course, this is the second time this has happened recently where GolfNow has tee times set up and the course is not aware or doesn’t care what GolfNow is/isn’t posting as available tee times. GolfNow charged me 6$ to hold the reservation - I’d like that refunded since I didn’t get to play/out of carts, etc
Great Public Course in S. DeKalb
I paid $18. Let that sink in for a second. $18. That's an incredible deal for 18 holes. It would almost be worth it to play on a parking lot for $18. But this is a fun, interesting, improving layout. There have been obvious investments and improvements in the fairway turf and the greens. Both are decent to good. Future plans (I hope) will take away some of the over-grown trees and deal with drainage (it gets swampy after a heavy rain). Much love and credit to the staff of Sugar Creek--you've brought it back from the dead and it's a really fun, inexpensive place to play.
Must be employees leaving good reviews
Where do I start......
Golf, barely any grass ok the tee boxes and easily the worst greens I've played, ever. I mean this is not good.
Ordered the buy 5 get 1 free. They said 30 bucks. I said they are only 4 dollars each. That is 24 dollars for 6 or 20 for 5. How they got 30 was funny. So I said I'll just buy 5 for 20. They said you don't get a free one. I said ok, give me 6 for 24 then. It was comical.
But back to golf. Just terrible. Every part.
Greens are rolling
Nice greens. Some challenging tee shots. Fairways were in very good shape. Great value.
Fair to partly cloudy
My brother in-law and played Sugarcreek on a absolutely gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I played the course w few years ago and could only remember the course had drainage problem after a hard rain and played soppy in spots. On this day the course was in great shape. The greens ran fast and true. The fairways; although firm, were mowed tight with no rough to mention.
Worst golf experience of my life. Time and money better spent elsewhere
First off, don’t allow tee times to be booked if you’re hosting a tournament. I had a 2:20 tee time booked, showed up at 1:30 and was told that they were not accepting players due to a junior tournament going on. We were then told to go to the range and they’d come get us and let us know when/if we would get to tee off. After an hour on the range with no one coming out, we went inside and were told we would be good to go once a cart was available (waited another 15 minutes). Once we got out on the course it was in less that acceptable shape. Tee boxes were bare and almost impossible to even get a tee in the ground. In one case there was a tree root running through the tee box…I mean your just asking to have someone break their wrist(smh). Greens were a 6/10 at best. Fairways were bare and under construction in some places. I mean just all around bad. The best part of the day was finding out the course looped back by the clubhouse at the turn so we could leave after 9 and not have to play the rest of the round. I have never left in the middle of a round before and had zero hesitation in doing so on this day. Needless to say I will never play here again nor will I recommend it to anyone. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
