Great for beginners
First time playing this course, I absolutely loved it. I started playing about 5 months ago and this course is great for beginners. Not too many hill or hazard but still challenging. It was wet when we played but still had a great time. Definitely going back and playing it again.
Good for the money
it were to cost anymore i would not play here. overall pretty solid
Great value!
Really enjoyed my first time in a long time at Browns Mill. Greens were in good shape, the rough was a little brutal in spots. I love the layout and it’s a good challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Great Municipal Course
I’ve played here at least 5 times now. One of my favorite courses in Atlanta and it’s able to be booked early and at a great price. Definitely recommend. Only issue is there is no food or drinks except some snacks and powerades in the club house. Otherwise everything else is great. I played on Labor Day and finished in 4.5 hours even though there were only 9 minute tee time intervals.
6 hour round
They actually don’t have a Marshall out here so it’s 6 hour rounds every weekend because of all these hackers out here
Bunkers from mars
The bunkers are literal craters and the greens are like carpet. Not to mention the range has been open for less than 5% of this year and they don’t do anything ab the pace of play bc there some absolute clowns playing out there sometimes
Terrible terrible
Showed you 40 minutes before our 4:12 tee time and they had no carts. Waited until 4:40 to finally have a cart ready and then the pace of play was terrible. There was a 2 some in front of us that was playing slower than a 5 some in front of them and never let us play through so we had to skip a hole to pass them. Staff was incredibly rude and there was no one at the cart barn. The marshal also kicked us off the course early even though he said we still had 20 minutes till the carts had to be up.
NO CARTS
Booked a 4:12pm tee time, checked in with the pro shop where they gave us a “cart slip” to get a cart with. Walked around back to see that there are no carts left and 5-8 players in front of my tee time waiting for carts also. Cart attendant was no where to be found. Half of my group tee’d off around 4:45, while myself and my playing partner waited another 15 minutes for a cart. Cart attendant then showed up and gave us crap and tried to stick us in a random group. Staff was not helpful. We were only able to play 14 holes. So much for a first impression. Greens looked like the cart attendants hairline. Marshall was more concerned with playing holes himself rather than maintaining players pace of play.
Course has seen better days
Used to love coming here- was great value for what you pay. They have stopped cutting greens, fairways, rough, etc. Putting was impossible as the greens were bumpy, uncut, and slow as could be. Fairways you had to lift and place half the time to get a playable lie with how thick they were. Clubhouse had a sign on the front door that they were “looking for volunteers” to work there. Hopefully they can turn it back around as it used to be my favorite in city public track.
Pace of play is terrible
First time visiting and probably won’t go agian. Pace of play is terrible and there was basically no difference between fairways and rough. Greens were not well kept either
Great price to value
First time golfing in Atlanta, zero qualms about the course. Expected much worse conditions for the price and was pleasantly surprised. Will absolutely be back.
Please be careful
First they over book no ice machine working the greens were aeration but no one mentioned that online still charged full price the usb in cart not working
Course under maintenance
The complete front side close for maintenance. This is not worth the value or for me to book another round of golf using this site, this is the second time in a row. There will not be a third time.
Greens are aerated. Only one 9 open.
Browns Mill is typically a solid course. You know what you’re getting out of it for the price. But today was pretty terrible conditions. They had half of the course closed due to aerating the greens on the front 9. They were letting a kids camp play as well so the entire front side was slammed. Took almost 3 hours for 9 holes. The pace normalized on the back due to most people going home because of the terrible shape of the greens which were punched and sanded. Im honestly surprised they had the other half closed because i can’t imagine it being any worse on the other side. Punching and sanding greens is necessary, but let people know that before they book tee times is really all I’m asking. Starter was really nice and the fairways were decent. Hopefully the greens heal quickly because i do enjoy playing this course.
