Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - West/North

About
Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa boasts a 27-hole championship course that serves as the centerpiece of the resort. The holes are divided into three nines and played in three different 18-hole combinations. North/West is a challenging but playable golf course. There is a good mix of tough holes and player-friendly elements. The fairways are lined with palm trees but they are wide and offer some room for error. The rolling terrain is dotted with six lakes, which provide water hazards on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout. The final hole on the North nine is ranked as the hardest hole at the resort. Although it is a seemingly easy 390 yards, the challenge comes from teeing off over a ravine to a narrow fairway guarded by trees and thick rough.

Should just close hole 1 north so it does not detract from the rest of the course. It is a mess and when we tried to lay it there was mud all over golf shoes, socks, cart wheels and inside carts. But the rest of the course is amazing! Loved it.
Rancho Las Palmas CC
Older Course, small greens and overall course was in poor condition. Drainage ditch running through course was full of garbage. Driving range was in terrible shape and management was very stingy with golf balls.
Played South and 4-9 holes on West; played PGA West the day before so it was a drop off as far as comparison. Greens were not plush (they were fast but true)Fairways and sand traps were in good condition. Traps must have been replenished given other golfers comments about needing sand. I'm not a good golfer but found South course enjoyable and not overly challenging. Struggled on the West with three of the six holes having 100 yard water obstacles right in front of the green and no bail out areas on left, right or back. It was like hitting to an island green because water in front had no landing space between it and the green. If you are a high handicapper like me recommend the South/North combination. VERY friendly staff
Very poor condition
Because of drain basin on course, you play in muddy soggy conditions. There is not much they can do to fix this.
Needs Work
The RLP course has been in need of better maintenance for several years. The fairways are okay but the greens are only average to below average. Most of the sand traps are hard with little sand. Even the few traps that have had new sand added have not been cleaned up around the edges. This could be a great course but the Omni Resort which owns the course has not maintained or improved it for years.
Nice course
The golf carts have gps, club and ball washers which is nice. The 9 hole south course has smaller greens and in ok shape. The 9 hole north course we liked better and seemed to be in better shape. For the price we played, it is ok value.
Not worth the money
The course is in terrible condition, even for January. The fairways were spotty. On some of the greens, you were putting over dirt. The sand traps had so little sand in most that you brought up dirt with your shot.
Don't go
The course maintenance, even for January, is terrible. The fairways are spotty and full of moles f other animals bulding mounds. The greens' grrass doesn't even cover the dirt in places. The scorecard has no relation to the actual holes played. The sand traps barely had enough sand to cover the mud. One trap had water--obviously no drainage. There was no one at the bag drop. The starter only pointed to the fist tee. No instructions. This course should be embarrassed to charged more than $100.
