Water The Course!
I'm a resident of Redwood City and have been playing here for several years. The course goes through it's "Up's" and "Down's". Not sure if it's currently under new management but it seems they don't water the fairways as much anymore hence some of them are completely dry . I know we are living in a drought environment but they could come up with a plan to water with recycle water. I don't mind "roughing it" here and there but playing on the dirt on the fairways is not my cup of tea. It's nested in a great location and they should take a little more pride on the maintenance. It's a good little course to practice your short game. Bring a 7, 8,9, PW, and putter.
Not for beginners
Going to keep this review short, it’s not for beginners. Lots of hills, dead grass everywhere, and gravel paths. Done.
Worst course I've ever played
Don't waste your money here. Even if you get the $8 round special during the weeks it's not worth it. You have to play behind frisbee golfers they let out groups of 6 or more out the staff is terrible the reason all the tee times are open is because it's a complete waste of time to play here.
Not manicure well
The course was very dissapointing, the greens were okay, but everything was not manicure at all. The price was not worth it. Will never go back again.
No point in this course
I made a reservation through Golfnow. I arrived and they stated they raised their prices by $5 per golfer. I was unaware of this as there’s no signs anywhere. A friend of mine informed me that the course has some steep uphills so recommended to get a cart. I asked for 2 carts for my party but hey said the carts were only for members. My friend stated he’s not a member and he’s gotten carts before. I don’t know what the big deal is limiting carts as there was literally no one there. To top it off there was a golf camp that was going before my tee time so they had us skip holes 1-3 and finish it later. The price increase I don’t mind but this course is absolutely awful. Many steep inclines and the grass was terrible. It looked as if it had been abandoned for months. If anyone were in the area I would recommend Mariners much more than this.
Parking lot
Someone approached me in the parking lot and rudely told me he wanted me to move my car I couldn't park here. I'm sure he was a member, what he should have done was talk to the staff , instead he approached me. I felt that was a verbal attack on myself and made my displeasure very apparent. I didn't feel comfortable playing my round , I had played that course before and parked in the same spot without issue. This is the reason nobody likes people from California. Maybe he needs a lesson in manners from where I'm from!
Parking lot
I would not recommend this course , my 2nd experience there I was approached in the parking lot and was rudely told I couldn't park in the same spot I parked the first time I played this course. This person did not identify himself with any affiliation with the course. I felt that was a verbal attack on myself and did not feel comfortable playing at the with him, I made sure he knew my feelings on the situation. I would guess he is a member. What he should have done is contact the course management not address me directly. This is why nobody likes people from California. He could use a lesson in manners from someone from Georgia!
Golfnow customer support is weak to non existent !
Way easier to just call the course, Golfnow has not way to share or inform them real time of issues with their site's short falls. Hence why pay a convenience fee for an inconvenience. Course is formally known as Goat Hill. Play once and you will know why ? Tight, hilly, eclectic and just plain fun. Bring your own beverages unless you are a card carrying Elk member.
