Mountain View at Callaway Gardens Resort
About
Callaway Gardens boasts two different 18-hole golf courses, but it’s much more than just a golfing destination. Situated amid the southernmost foothills of the Appalachians, the resort was created in 1952 as an educational, horticultural, and recreational facility. The mission was to embrace the beauty of the natural environment and preserve the natural resources offered by the wetlands and forests. Playing either golf course you’ll be surrounded by pristine landscapes abundantly filled with native wildlife. The Mountain View Course is the longer and more challenging of the two. While it may not have as much water as the aptly named Lake View, the Mountain View golf course will truly test your shot-making abilities with narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and several tricky doglegs. One hole where you’ll encounter water is the signature par-5 sixth, where both the tee and approach shots are over water.

Great hole! Photo submitted by dongolf0123 on 04/21/2014
great course great golfnow price
Course was in great shape for this time of the year. Rough was extremely high because of the wetness. this caused the loss of balls and difficulty in finding of balls. Greens were in great shape and very fast . Traps were in great shape for this time of year.
Mountain view
The course was overall good The bunkers need more sand or work on them. Greens were slow and not good.
great course
this course is great love playing there. staff is always friendly ,and helpful, would recommend this course to anyone
Needs a first cut!
The Bermuda rough is so thick and rough that it’s fairway or nothing, they need a shorter first cut off the fairway then into rough length, your ball can literally roll inches off the fairway and you WILL NOT FIND IT !!! Mentally it’s troublesome in your golf game when you hit a good shot! Also slows down pace of play big time with folks trying to find their ball.
Great day at the course.
I love coming to this place. My only critique, is they should cut the rough right now in the fall. If you do happen to get your ball in it you can spent 10 minutes trying to find it. It’s a public course so you’re just holding people up looking for a ball 3 feet off the fairway.
everything was perfect.
fairway, rough, green, course.. everything was perfwect.
i hope to play here again asap.
Sweet course
Great experience, great conditions, first time playing this course, won’t be the last!
Day after lots of rain &. 2 days after maintenance closure
Actually was quite well. Wish the sand traps were a bit dryer ..: fix for that is to stay out of them. Very surprised we felt like we were the only ones there:. Two days prior i put in a request at the proshop & bag drop to have our cart decorated for our 30th anniversary. Unfortunately that was not followed through on… but i later discovered a line to call at CG called CID (consider it done) that I should have used.. noted for next time.
All in all I've played here maybe 5 times and found it to be top shelf only beat by Jekyll Island’s and tied with Barnsley Gardens in Kingston GA.
Enjoyed course and condition
Only issue was, we got there with plenty of time to warm up, and purchased balls in the clubhouse only to find that they didn’t have any. I purchased 3 bags, one for each of us only to find they didn’t have any. The attendant at the cart barn offered to get balls for us and delivered a tube to each of us that consisted of 22 balls each. About 20 balls short of a bag, and so late that we couldn’t even hit them all before our tee time. Kinda frustrating when the cost for 3 players was $196.00. All they had to say was I can’t sell you balls right now, and we would have chipped and putted.
Challenging and Fun Course
Mountain View is a very good course that plays long with lots of challenges. It is a great and challenging course (has hosted many PGA tour stops during the 1990s) that has seen better days.
The greens were very playable but not great. The greens were a little shaggy and slow, due to the rain over the past few days. Most greens are very small, elevated and heavily bunkered which presents a challenge. Most of the greenside bunkers are large, very deep, and challenging. The fairways were lush and firm but with a few bare spots. Bunkers were crusty and had not been raked recently due to the rain and weather the past few days. Mountain View is a good, challenging course but not in the best condition vs. when I played last year.
The staff, as always, was very friendly. Do yourself a favor and go to Callaway Gardens for the weekend and play both courses. You will enjoy them both Mountain View course is longer and more difficult than Lake View course.
Great Course Mountain View
Very nice course very challenging greens need to be more maintained overall I recommend it
Great Facility
Played both Mountain View and Lake View and they were in excellent condition.
