Mountain View at Callaway Gardens Resort
About
Callaway Gardens boasts two different 18-hole golf courses, but it’s much more than just a golfing destination. Situated amid the southernmost foothills of the Appalachians, the resort was created in 1952 as an educational, horticultural, and recreational facility. The mission was to embrace the beauty of the natural environment and preserve the natural resources offered by the wetlands and forests. Playing either golf course you’ll be surrounded by pristine landscapes abundantly filled with native wildlife. The Mountain View Course is the longer and more challenging of the two. While it may not have as much water as the aptly named Lake View, the Mountain View golf course will truly test your shot-making abilities with narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and several tricky doglegs. One hole where you’ll encounter water is the signature par-5 sixth, where both the tee and approach shots are over water.

Golfer Reviews
Callaway Gardens Mountain
The course is in bad shape especially the greens. Haven’t played in awhile and was embarrassed to bring a guest. At the turn we decided to get a $15 burger that was worse than the course. They need a total overhaul.
Course is begging for revival
Beautiful layout that previous management has let go. What a shame, but it can be revived; just needs an injection if money and proper maintenance. But it needs it yesterday! Greens and bunkers are horrible. Fairways are ok. I hope cuurent owners will commut to the golf courses and bring them back to resort and championship quality. Too beautiful to let them die but not fun to play in present conditions.
Poor Greens
The greens were very patchy. I had last played here about five weeks ago and hoped they would at least look a little better this time around, but there were no signs of any trends in the right direction. $85+ for a round is very steep for the shape of these greens. Bull Creek’s look considerably better and they’re still recovering from being hit by a tornado.
Greens in bad shape
There is a lot to like about the course but the greens being in bad shape are hard to get past. They are working on them but spring of 25 they are hard to play. Friend played Lake View and said it has same issue.

Greens need work.
Decent course for the hot deal rate of 27 bucks. Greens rolled pretty well but there were some bare spots and poana weeds.
used to be great
tee boxes in less than average condition
fairways were very wet after 6 inches in last three days.
Greens had POA and a lot of patches where there was no grass.
course needs a lot of maintenance
Greens are beachy
Tee boxes and fairways were good but the greens were absolutely horrible. They were dead, completely covered in sand, and extremely rough. Some greens had massive craters either chipping over, putting through, or putting around going around from the flag.
Easy and Scenic
We played Lake View and Mountain View.
We enjoyed the challenge of Lake View more.
Lake View greens were better maintained.
Great course
We play it every year before the Holidays. The course is decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments.
Greens and bunkers need work. OK for the price on golf now.
What A Deal
If it were closer to my home it would be perfect. A couple of greens aren't perfect but the others are. Fairways are in very good shape. Keep an eye on off-fairway balls as they could hide in thick turf.
Mountain View
The course was in decent shape. Roughs were really high. The greens were slow and some were in bad shape.
Bunker Bunker Bunker.
Challenging because most of the greens are protected by bunkers and running the ball up is risky. Also, it's my understanding that vast improvements in the condition of the course is underway. Looking forward to playing the Lakeview course next time.
The course needs major maintenance
Good layout. Mountain course was run down and in despite need of maintenance.
