Callaway Gardens boasts two different 18-hole golf courses, but it’s much more than just a golfing destination. Situated amid the southernmost foothills of the Appalachians, the resort was created in 1952 as an educational, horticultural, and recreational facility. The mission was to embrace the beauty of the natural environment and preserve the natural resources offered by the wetlands and forests. Playing either golf course you’ll be surrounded by pristine landscapes abundantly filled with native wildlife. The Mountain View Course is the longer and more challenging of the two. While it may not have as much water as the aptly named Lake View, the Mountain View golf course will truly test your shot-making abilities with narrow fairways tightly lined with trees and several tricky doglegs. One hole where you’ll encounter water is the signature par-5 sixth, where both the tee and approach shots are over water.

Horrible Greens

My overall experience was sub par. The fairways were alright, the greens were horrible. Being that it once was a PGA Tour tournament spot, you would have never guessed that. I do understand it has been many years ago, but still you would think it was maintained a little better. I even brought a friend from Florida about two years to play the lake side course and again that was a sub par as well.

I was lucky that golfnow had a $30 Hot deal. I would not pay a penny more due to the shape of their course.

The layout is a bit confusing as to were the driving range is at. I was told to just follow the red arrows down a cart path and then they disappear, until you cross the road and bam there is the last red arrow.

I will not be returning to play at either Calloway gardens golf courses until I know for sure it is in better shape.

Sincerely

Unhappy custo.er

First Impressions

Course layout is very good. They need a Marshall to keep resort golfers moving . We skipped one hole to get around 2 groups - we finished 5 holes in front of that group - we played the back nine in well under 2 hours after a 2 and a half front nine. Rough is tough , you want to keep it on the fairway - ball is hard to find in the rough- Greens are ok - you need to make sure you are playing the right tees to make this enjoyable.

Nice course and fun layout. Some very challenging holes. Biggest problem with the course is the greens. Some are in very tough shape and all have some sort of pebble based sand spread over them. Worth playing if you use a Hot Deal.

PERFECT DAY FOR GOLF

TEES, FAIRWAYS, AND RUFF WERE PERFECT.

GREENS WERE EXTREMELY SLOW. G AND WERE ADDING SAND AND FERTLIZER TO GREENS. SANDTRAPS NEEDED A LOT OF WORK.

GOLF RATE WAS HIGH PRICE AND PACE WAS VERY FAST. 3 1/2 HOURS FOR 18.

Backed up and very slow

I play this course often. Never seen it so slow. They had a tournament on the other course. All other players played Mountain View.

Fast pace

Greens were being rolled and were aerated probably two weeks ago.putted ok. Tees and fairways were in good shape but rough was high enough were you could lose a ball if you did not watch it carefully. Played back nine first and played it quickly. Front nine was a little bit slower so we skipped a few hole since I was ill a while back

Mountain View

Course is in pretty bad shape. Greens on front 9 are horrible. Greens on back 9 were just bad. Fairways weren’t terrible but also weren’t great. This ised to be a phenomenal course. Paid 34 to play and feel like that was an okay deal.
