Enjoyable round at a leisurely pace
Had a great round on a beautiful day.
Pace of play was a bit slow, but not unbearable. Made for a leisurely round to enjoy the beautiful day.
Great conditions
Well kept and fast greens makes this course a pleasure to play.
Wide fairways, trees, challenging greens
The secret to this course is to keep the ball in the fairway away from all the trees or you will regret it. Greens are easy to approach. Minimal water hazards.
Not watering yet? Still pretty decent!!!
Greens and fairways were extremely fast. One of the guys I was paired with said they're not watering yet this year and they're trying to raise funds for new irrigation. I was charged$2 when I got to the course, which I assumed was a cart key deposit. I was informed that it was a surcharge after the round was completed and i went back inside to turn the key in(thinking I'd be getting my $2 back).
Overall, the course was pretty nice if they haven't been watering. The front 9 is not very friendly for us draw players though with the fairways being so fast. Also, approach shots need to be played to bounce and roll onto the greens, because if you hit the green with mid/long irons, it's definitely rolling off the back.
Terrible
We got there at 4 pm and paid for (2) 18 holes with cart. He was upset that I requested us to each have our own cart. Then once we finished hole 9 he said we only paid for 9 holes and he wanted the carts back. I told him I can show him our confirmation and he just ignored me and said we could play two more holes then bring the carts back. Just overall poor service.
Fast & Firm @ Bennett Valley
The courses is in really good shape. After heavy rains several weeks ago, it has finally dried out (though the tees were still moved up on #1). The driving range and putting green are open, but there is no food or beverage service available at this time. The staff is always helpful and friendly, but play can be slow on weekends. This course gets a lot of play and the grounds crew does a great job keeping the course in good shape. It's definitely a good value for the green fee.
