Great deal but..
First time golfing. I love how the course is very flat which in a way is forgiving. Absolutely beautiful and I really like how they announce t times over a loud speaker. I’d only golf during deals because it’s a little speedy but if you got money to spend, could be a fun trip
Good course doubling as mud pits
I really like BV and to no fault of the staff the course is in awful condition. It’s due to the rain over the past month. Course does not drain well. Several temp tee boxes. The staff were very honest about the conditions and suggested only paying for 9 and deciding if you wanted to continue at the turn, so they are doing their best with what Mother Nature has forced on them. I would suggest waiting a few weeks for this course to dry out.
What did you do with the alligators
What a swamp. Course does not drain well. I like playing Bennett but never again until it dries out. The suction in the mud could pull your shoes off your feet.
Flooded golf course
Normally this course rates a 4 out of 5.
With all the rain, Bennett Valley GC is wet and muddy. At the pro shop, they only charged me for the front 9 and a option to pay extra for the back 9. Unfortunately, I walk off after playing 7 holes.
I really enjoy this course...but not in the wet winter.
Still no restaurant, no bar, no cart person, and no marshal to keep pace of play.
Fun time!
Played this course for the first time yesterday, and I liked it! Fun layout, some gettable holes but tight fairways to challenge the lack of length. I heard they’re trying to shut this course down and that would be a mistake imo! Great muni imo and if I didn’t live farther away I’d play it more often! Only downside is the restaraunt being closed and no cart service. Understandable due to the times tho.
Nice course in the summer
I like playing the course in the summer, since it's challenging and in good shape. However, this is the first time I've played it in the winter. Even though it hasn't rained in several weeks the course was still quite wet, which didn't allow proper maintenance of the fairways. This resulted in cleaning the ball and trying to find a dry spot to hit from, often quite difficult. I'll be back next year when the course is dry.
Very nice course.
This is a very nice course with a great layout. Pace of play was a little slow.
Shaggy fairways; slowest 9 I've ever played
Checked in at 12:30. We were warned about 5-hour pace due to cart path only (soggy course) AND carts due back at 5pm. In other words, don't expect a complete round. Front 9 took THREE HOURS! No marshals. We bailed on back 9, replayed front 9 in 1.5 hours, walked on to last green at 5pm, as the guy rode up to tell us the cart was due back. Still a good 1/2 hour of daylight left.
Meanwhile, all 3 of us spent significant time looking for -- and in some cases losing -- drives hit well within the fairway. That's how much the course needed mowing.
Fun course, soggy ground is not their fault but that does not come close to explaining the excruciating pace or conditions.
Too wet , poor drainage
Do not play this until the summer. Poor drawing clay soil. Course is a mud bowl.
Great day, better company. We had fun. The course is a nice public course:
Friday afternoon at BVGC
I love this golf course!!! The staff is helpful and the course has challenging, yet very playable layout with tree-lined fairways and great green complexes.
The greens are normally some of the best in the North Bay, however today they were bumpy and slow due to aeration about 10 days ago.
On another note, I wish the City of Santa Rosa would invest some funds in the course infrastructure because the conditions at this gem are rapidly deteriorating.
BYOB
Okay course but no f/b and they charge 2$ extra for something. Not the best one but I hope they save golf course, it’s scheduled to be replaced by low income housing
