Tight older course
Since the BK / buyout situation a couple years ago, they have really fixed the course up. The greens were extremely fast and hard. (Tough to get longer irons to hold) and they have some good movement to them with brutal pin placements. Lots of large oaks and pines keep the fairways tight and driving accuracy pays off ( or kills your scores if you don't). It is not really long so accurate 3 woods off the tee pay off. My only complaint on the day was the bunker condition of the one that I hit all day. Soft under foot all the way up to my ball then when I hit my shot there was rock hard clay under about 1/8' of sand. Needless to say my shot sailed the green and resulted in a double when I was looking at a birdie. Rough day of not working huh? Overall a great spot and with their $20 hot deal is a screaming deal. I will be back.
Back an forth
Front an back nine run together so there is no seperation from the front or back they mirrior each other. Poor lay out
Great Value
Found the course to be challenging yet enjoyable to play. Course was in great shape for being in drought. Booked on site for $22.00 for 18 holes, would have paid double that to play at this course. Looking forward to going back.
Great course for the price
Course is well taken care of and is a nice challenge. I really enjoy playing this course.
Slow play!
The play was very slow, no waiting on holes 1-3, then we waited the rest of the day on every hole. There was a foursome with 3 juniors in front of us hitting more than one ball on most of the holes. In front of them, a group of 5 player in 3 carts, which had 1-2 holes open in front of them most of the day. Did not see a course marshall all day!
Excellent conditions
Course is well taken care of, greens are perfect. Fairways are real narrow overall excellent course.
SLOOOOOWWWW Round
I would recommend this course but check with the golf shop first.
We played behind a 8 AM golf club shotgun. Front nine was 2:50, back nine was almost as bad. You'd think that once the shotgun was over, the course would speed up. Sadly no.
I will play again but on a day when there's not so many players.
Way better than munis!
Nicely maintained course since it used to be a country club. Greens rolls pretty nice. There are a good number of water holes that makes play more interesting. Hot Deals are very well priced! Will definitely play again!
A hidden gem
This is a private country club golf course now open to the public. It is in great shape. The fairways are relatively wide, but off line shots will find the trees. You can use a driver on most holes, but a couple of holes does require lay ups for positioning over water. I don't remember any of the greens being level. The greens were fast and on one hole a ball above the pin and missing the putt back to the hole was a sure recipe for the ball rolling off the green. I plan on playing this course many more times
Best course!!!!
My b'friend & I live (somewhat) nearby... We found we kept coming back to this course... Ultimately we joined & havent regretted it one bit!!! The staff is awesome!!! Grounds are great!! Greens un-believable!! The clientel are also fabulous!! Cant say enough good things!!!
Great Course
Just a great place to play. Looking forward to next time
Good Putting Greens
Had a good round of golf with my buddy. Unfortunately there was a foursome in front of us that made us wait almost every shot. Could of waved us through. Noticed no Marshall on duty that would have addressed our concern. Carts are old and have no GPS
Some hiden dangers
It is best to play this course with local knowledge as the is hidden water that cannot be seen from the tee. It seems to play long and favors a long tee shot. The greens were not too difficult and in good condition.
Good challenging golf course
Good fun golf course to play. Got behind a foursome of members and there was only two of us. The members would not let us play through. We played the front nine in one hour. We got behind the foursome and it took us 2.5 hours to play the back nine.
ElkHorn GC review
Must have a caddy first time around to explain hazards or Course should make hazard booklet for new comers. Was a fun course to play and fairly easy the way I like it. Narrow fairways make it challenging if you are not straight with driver. Girls in restraunt were not that friendly but maybe because they were busy.
Fun course with a little challenge
Typical "park land" layout with just enough angles, trees and water features to keep things interesting.
Good greens. Not crowded on weekdays
Good playing conditions tee to greens
Sand could be better
Keep it straight or trees will eat you up
Narrow Fairways and True Greens
I hadn’t played this course for more than 8 years and was pleasantly surprised by the conditions given that it had been closed for a couple of years. The fairways were recently aerated but that really wasn’t much of a factor since I only hit five of them. The trees have matured since I last played here which made the already tight fairways even more challenging. The greens were in excellent shape – even though players here apparently do not have ball mark repair tools – and they rolled very true for my 29 putts. The new management has made significant improvements but they still need put new sand in the sand traps as they are about 60% dirt mixed with sand. I booked this through GolfNow.com and it included a cart but it could easily be walked. Looking forward to my next round here.
WHAT A SURPRISE!
My first time playing Elkhorn CC was a welcome surprise. The layout was kind of old school with tree lined fairways and a fewer smaller, raised greens. A different kind of track than many in the area. Course was in very good shape and the greens were true and medium speed. I will absolutely play again. Super value to boot!
This course is in excellent condition
The 1st time I played this course about 15 years ago when it was private. Played this course Sunday, May 18th. Found the course to be in excellent condition. Reminded me of the old style course with narrow fairways, small greens, a lot of doglegs and some hidden hazards.
