Great value
Really a nice course. Greens in great shape, fairways not too hard or soft, pace of play outstanding. Three or four really interesting holes.
We'll definitely be back.
well hidden sand traps
great mix of long holes and short holes that made you hit quality shots well placed fairway bunkers that were fair to hit out of, greens roll true to the stroke would like to see red white blue flags for hole position
Great find
got a hot deal and aplyed, paired with two other guys and had a fine round. Pace of play was excellent, and the course is in really good shape.
Better courses on the same street
First time and I was underwhelmed. The greens are nice but there are better courses to play on 8mile. I'd rather play either of the other two over elkhorn.
Dirt Sand traps
greens were smooth and fast. bunkers were not in good shape. sand traps need a lot of help. bring in good sand.....
Really quite nice
This is great value first of all.
The course is nice, not too crowded. Good for beginners and good golfers alike.
Mature trees, so there's a good amount of shade and wind protection compared to others.
Really nice play to play. Challenging, but not overly so.
Fairly flat course with doglegs and water hazards
The course is flat with no elevation changes. The fairways are bordered by mature trees with some water hazards. Elkhorn is not the most interesting golf course, but you will need to shape some of your drives to provide shorter approach shots to the green. The GN discounted fees make this course a good value for your time.
1st class Golf
Hello All,
I am not your everyday golfer or your weekend hack but I can hold my own.
Elkhorn is a great course, Golfnow has given me the opportunity to play here multiple times and each time is amazing. I love playing here as the course is amazing the greens are well groomed and each time has been a great. I recommend that you give Elkhorn a try as you will not regret it.
Day out on a deal
I personal like this course because you need think about ball placement in the fairways long hitter need to be accurate greens in the afternoon are slow to turn the ball but do near the cups Fairways are close (It's a Housing track former private CC) bunkers have fluffy sand and with our water conservation the approaches are firmer than normal so lots of tight lies
DOWN side: some of the fairway run parallel to each other in the same direction so heed the "four calls"
Also little pricy for the area 49 w/cart for 18
Has a little of everything
This was my first time playing this course and I enjoyed it but it could have been better. Overall its a good challenge that I would play again. The greens are fast but there were some dead spots on them. The fairways were in decent shape. The fairways had trees and some were narrow. The course is very walkable and flat. The driving range is on the small side.
Elk Horn - Central Valley Secret
I have golfed at Elk Horn, and all the other courses in the area of Stockton. You will find the ease of booking a tee time great with GolfNow, but once I got there the staff was outstanding. The tee boxes are in great shape, fairways well maintained and on this day the greens were hard and fast, but in good shape. We were paired up with two guys who also appear to enjoy themselves. The pace of play was good and the beverage cart operator was quick to make rounds on a 99 degree day. Elk Horn is a well kept secret.
Great service
We played 36 holes on Sunday and the morning round was a 5 hour round. Waited on every hole. The staff however was excellent and refunded us our cart fee for the second round which was very nice of them and we played the second round in 3.5 hours and were able to finish all 36. The course was in great shape. Greens not really fast due to punching a couple weeks ago but you could not tell they had been punched. We enjoyed the course and definitely will be back.FYI - Talked to a lady playing behind us on the first round who apparently plays there every week and asked her if it is always this slow and she said weekend morning are always like this and seemed perfectly fine with it which is probably a big part of the problem. There is no reason why on that course with very few areas to lose and search for balls that it should ever be over a 4 hour round at any time.
Elkhorn
Ist time playing the course, very well maintained and will play this course again.
Fun course
Will return...Staff very accomodating and courteous
Elkhorn GC
This day started out bad. I arrived at the course 30 minutes early to warm-up. Only to find 8 carts backed up on the first tee. We ended up going off about 20 minutes late. The round was slow all day due to the back-up and the fact that they had groups of 5 going off in front of us. The group directly in front of us usually hit two tee shots each, due to thier first shot going OB. This added to the slow play. Never saw a marshall all day. Round was 5 1/2 hours. The tee boxes and fairways were in fair condition, but the greens were horrible. Ball marks, divots and and brown spots where the previous holes were located. Sand traps were basically dirt holes. I plated there becuase we were considering joining. Will not join and will not play there if conditions do not improve.
Value
Price on Golf Now was the same as the golf course price. When you factor in the service charge, we paid more than we would have if we went directly through the course for the tee time.
Plenty of well placed bunkers
We made a tee time as we were leaving Stockton. What nice setting! The layout is similar to that of Butte CreeK CC in Chico.
Pro shop staff was very friendly upon arrival, and flexible by letting grab a snack prior to teeing off.
My wife and I play quickly, but didn't catch another group until the 8th green. The group allowed us to play through at 10, and it was clear until 16. It helps we teed off afternoon. There's water that is disguised on a number of holes. Wish it was closer than 3 hours away, Elkhorn seems like a nice course to become familiar with. After we had a couple great burgers, with friendly wait staff.
Awesome Greens
Tees and greens about as good as it gets. Overall course conditions made for great day even with 95 degrees. More drinking water would be perfect.
