Some hiden dangers
It is best to play this course with local knowledge as the is hidden water that cannot be seen from the tee. It seems to play long and favors a long tee shot. The greens were not too difficult and in good condition.
Good challenging golf course
Good fun golf course to play. Got behind a foursome of members and there was only two of us. The members would not let us play through. We played the front nine in one hour. We got behind the foursome and it took us 2.5 hours to play the back nine.
ElkHorn GC review
Must have a caddy first time around to explain hazards or Course should make hazard booklet for new comers. Was a fun course to play and fairly easy the way I like it. Narrow fairways make it challenging if you are not straight with driver. Girls in restraunt were not that friendly but maybe because they were busy.
Fun course with a little challenge
Typical "park land" layout with just enough angles, trees and water features to keep things interesting.
Good greens. Not crowded on weekdays
Good playing conditions tee to greens
Sand could be better
Keep it straight or trees will eat you up
Narrow Fairways and True Greens
I hadn’t played this course for more than 8 years and was pleasantly surprised by the conditions given that it had been closed for a couple of years. The fairways were recently aerated but that really wasn’t much of a factor since I only hit five of them. The trees have matured since I last played here which made the already tight fairways even more challenging. The greens were in excellent shape – even though players here apparently do not have ball mark repair tools – and they rolled very true for my 29 putts. The new management has made significant improvements but they still need put new sand in the sand traps as they are about 60% dirt mixed with sand. I booked this through GolfNow.com and it included a cart but it could easily be walked. Looking forward to my next round here.
WHAT A SURPRISE!
My first time playing Elkhorn CC was a welcome surprise. The layout was kind of old school with tree lined fairways and a fewer smaller, raised greens. A different kind of track than many in the area. Course was in very good shape and the greens were true and medium speed. I will absolutely play again. Super value to boot!
This course is in excellent condition
The 1st time I played this course about 15 years ago when it was private. Played this course Sunday, May 18th. Found the course to be in excellent condition. Reminded me of the old style course with narrow fairways, small greens, a lot of doglegs and some hidden hazards.
Elkhorn G.C.
The course was windy, @25mph you have to play shots starting off the first hole. The course is in great shape. Played as a two-some. Did a little bass fishing until we saw the no fishing sign. But was fun.
Great course
Pace of play was great for a Saturday afternoon! The staff was super friendly! Course was in unbelievable shape..... AAAA+++++
Nice course
This is a great Central Valley course in north Stockton. Easy to score on; and the course was in terrific shape. Mostly dirt bunkers is my complaint for many courses locally including this one but everything else was good. A LOT of elevated greens in a completely flat course. Greens are on the small side and it's easy for a ball to roll off the green. Overall, very fun. I'll be back. Good bloody Mary's from the bar too!
Good course
Great course, guys in pro shop were real nice. Play was quick.
Clean and Simple but quite the old school layout
Not sure who's to blame but only main bother was that the person who posted the Hot Deal didn't disclose the punched greens that had just been done a few days back.
Golf cart accelerator made a funny racheting noise throughout day and they are way too old. I would imagine that's because an old person owns the course as it has that vibe.
Lightning fast greens
Beautiful day to play golf and get outside and enjoy the nice weather. The course is in good shape with the rough grass a little tall causing difficulty in finding an errant ball. The greens were lightning fast but still holds a high approach shot. Will play the course again real soon, good value, golf carts in good condition, course layout easy follow.
Elkhorn is a hidden gem in the valley
I was lucky enough to be a Jr. member here as a youth when it was a Private C.C. & owned by Ty. When I heard that they were re-opening this awesome track after being shuttered for a few yrs, I was very excited, to say the least. This course is well planned and is a tricky one with O.B. on almost every hole & OB left & right on many holes. If your ball can't stay on the fairway, expect a score that is brutal. The pace of play is THE BEST in Central Valley and my only complaint is it isn't in Sacramento, but makes Stockton seem really close when playing here.
Good condition
The course was in good condition. The pace was very slow. We saw several groups with 5-6 players. Took us 5.5 hours to play.
tight course with fast greens
The course was in good condition. very crowded so pace of play was pretty slow. the greens were fast and fairways were in good shape. most fairways are tree lined which demand straight accurate shoots. the practice green however were much slower than the course greens. disappointing because the practice green and course greens should be similar in speed which they were not. very walkable course with holes close to each other and pretty flat.
