Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course

Over 5 hours run, marshal need to control pace of play.

The ONLY plus are the new carts. Otherwise pace of play is nuts. 5 hours through hole 12. Tee times every 7 minutes is silly given this is a muni and most players are 100+ hcp. No amenities, no water, no beverage cart. Bunkers right now are cement, as in you do not need a rake because walking or hitting out will not leave a mark. Saw two people get hit today. Fairways are pretty bad (understandably due to water regulations). Really missing Jeff in the Pro Shop and a Marshall out on the course. We are regulars here - at least 25 rounds a year. Sunnyvale really needs to get their act together and take care of this course.

Sunnyvale is a must play local course .Easy Walking should be expected. Bring those beverages and rash ins. Keep that energy going through the round. Challenging par 3s. 3 risk/ rewards opps. Easy par 5s. Come watch the jets fly over as you shoot par underneath.

Cool single players played with me and my dad but the course layout was not ideal. After 9 holes I expect to be by the club house, but no it’s the not until you get to the 14th hole that you get back there. The course is in an average condition but being between two freeways makes it not so peaceful as all the other courses I’ve been to. No real selection of food or drinks so make sure to pack if you do plan on playing this course. Being my first and probably last time going to this course I would rate it 2-3 out of 5 compared to a 4 out of 5 at deep cliff golf course.

I miss the water features and who knows when they’ll be back. Mother Nature will determine that I suppose.

Good fairways and greens even in the dry weather

Fairways were lush and soft, roughs were cut, so finding stray shot balls was easier

Can improve water fountains and toilets along the way as on a hot day need water

COurse was short of trolleys and buggies, so had to buy a trolley

I play this course at least 10 times a year in all weather conditions. Putting greens are well manicured. Tee boxes can take a little beating

Mainly a walking course. So bring your legs. But it’s a flat course. Expect west coast winds on a daily basis. Use that sunblock. Very few lost balls as course is wide and any poor drive can be recouped with a patient second shot. Come out and play.

Bring those extra snacks and hydration. The water coolers are not available as the only faucet that works is on the 12th hole. Water tastes pretty earthy. Have fun. I look to play with you sometime.
