NO WATER HERE! Photo submitted by rschirmer58 on 10/29/2018
Sunnyvale is a very good public course.
Sunnyvale is a good public course. It is not difficult but fun.The course is in good condition for a public course. The staff is excellent and the happy hour is fabulous. The only drawback was play was slow. It took 4.5 hours to play.
Not very friendly.
I paid for a foursome two guys didn’t show up.Explained my problem to the pro shop and they were unwilling to work with me. Happy Holidays
convenient in town
Enjoyed the course, it's not difficult but is enjoyable. The price was great for the day after holiday
Great course for the price.
This course is good the the average golfer. The course is flat and easy to walk. There were very little hazards to deal with. Just make sure you avoid the freeway if you slice or hook
Great course but no driving range to warm up
Sunnyvale is a great course. Only issue is that there is no driving range to warm up.
great conditions
Fairway, sand bunkers, and greens were in great shape! What's missing is the water in the hazards. Without the water, it's not as picturesque. And, not as intimidating! Course layout is nice, with several doglegs and not just boring straight fairways. Course is flat and hence, walkable...but we opted for the cart. Weather was pleasant even in November at Sunnyvale. We'll definitely try to play here again before the year is over.
Sunnyvale course
Great course well laid out and beautiful weather. All amenities are first rate. Would play this course anytime and recommend it to anybody.
Water??
Was disappointed they have drained all of their lakes/ponds. This takes a lot of the teeth out of this course. This already easy course is now made to easy!
Excellent value for money esp. Hot Deals
We come to play everytime there is a hot deal. Best value for money anywhere in the bay. Fairly good condition, very friendly staff, no waiting . Never had anyone in front nor back. What you see is what you get. very enjoyable.
Bang for the buck!
It’s a great value for a “muni”... I played twilight round on a Sunday for $32... The two Par 5’s are legit... The shortest Par 3 is 160 yards over a water hazard... A few gimmicky holes but nothing that will kill you... Greens are typically in good shape with varying sizes...
The greens were aerated, the tee boxes were in horrible shape, fairways were in below average condition and amenities were non-existent. Pace of play would have been fine but they gave us a single that took five to ten minutes on every swing and putt which made it very painful. I haven't played there in about a year and they have really let the course and facilities go unfortunately.
Not a good course
First 9 holes took 3 hours. Called office after two holes took 40 minutes. Nothing was done. No bathrooms on course. Don't come back to the clubhouse until the 14th hole. Doesn't really matter, the restaurant is closed and the pro shop only has a soda machine. Oh and that's broken. At the 18th they asked for the cart back since it was dusk (really I have to carry my stuff back to the car?).
I mentioned some of the complaints to the lady and she said next time I'm there (not happening) that I should call the office so they could send someone out. As i mentioned before we had and absolutely nothing happened as a result the first time.
Oh and the course is right next the the highway. Had to yell to my playing partners to communicate anything.
Course conditions are pretty meh. Lots of hard pack around the greens. All the ponds are dry which I do understand.
The drought is over Sunnyvale!
This used to be my home course, not anymore. The water hazards are dry eyesores, the fairways are 30 percent dirt, the snack shop has been closed for years. The worst condition I have seen the course in. Why can't someone turn on the sprinklers, fill up the ponds and bring this course back? We just had an epic rainy season, the drought is over, what gives?
Another sad municipal course...
Sunnyvale has let this course slide even further. While there is a restaurant/bar above the proshop, the 9th hold snack shack is still an unused dilapidated look building, the snack cart has a poor selection of drinks, and it's always frustrating to remember that their practice/warm-up facilities consist of one putting green - no chipping, and no driving range. Most of the water features on the course have been 90% drained, so they are just big mud pits now, really takes away from the look of the course. The tees are in pretty bad shape, you have to move around to find a spot that isn't super uneven and/or sandy - who wants to slip while hitting your drive? The greens are in reasonable condition but they are SLOW. Unfortunately the overall state of this course seems to be typical for municipal courses in the area, Palo Alto Muni is about the same, if not worse, and I've heard Santa Clara is worse than Sunnyvale.
Good day to play
I'm a 10 handicap. The course was easy to get on. Pace of play was ok. Course ok. Amenities are poor. No cart, no water coolers. Drinking fountains were warm with poor water flow.
