Nice Course and Pace of Play
It is a nice course and we had a great pace of play.
Great price when we played.
Slow pace
The overall course condition is good. But the pace is slow due to some walking foursome groups. It seems common on this course because the course administrator intentionally holds all players until 12:00pm even course is nearly empty. If you want to play with regular pace, better to avoid those groups. Otherwise, this is a fun to play course. Wish the administrator can be more flexible.
Poor Conditions
Called in advance to ask about rental clubs and told it was "no problem". When I checked in they handed me a set that was missing a six iron and had a blend of steel and graphite iron shafts. No time to resolve as they were rushing us out early ahead of our scheduled 10am tee time because of s tournament.
Ok the course the maintenance crew had not touched a single bunker that day. The sand was hard as a rock. We told the pro shop about it when we returned and honestly didn't care. Not planning on coming back.
Sunnyvale Municipal used to be a well run course....but now....not worth the trip for any price.
I played this Monday. The course was relatively empty. I played four holes and had to quit as the foursome ahead was so slow...that it was a chore to watch them. I went to their bar and had a glass of wine. Waited till there was a gap at the first hole. Played another six holes, joined up with another single and then another umbrella brigade with nary an idea of what they were doing. I quit.
The last time I played Sunnyvale was a year ago. It was a bad experience then and...never again.
I remember Sunnyvale Golf Course back in the eighties when Nick Pagonis ran the Lookout Bar and Restaurant upstairs. The course had a great pro-shop run by Art Wilson...the bar and restaurant were run well and always lively and...the golf course was run like a golf course. It's sad to see to the level that it has deteriorated.
good value
Staffs are not super friendly, just OK to get on to the course.
This course has 2 characters separated by highway 237.
Hole 8 is always challenging, tough drive, tough approach, tough putt.
If you never play there, you should go try it out.
Not super difficult but still challenging enough.
Very walkable.
Sunnyvale Muni
The course was in very good condition, pace was good. Staff was very friendly, it did not used to be, which is why I stopped playing there. They just opened up a cafe there which makes it nicer as well. That had been closed for 3 years or so.
The only con is that the price was the same whether I booked it on GolfNow or called the course. Where are the discounts?
Slow pace
The 4 some in front of us is so slow affecting our group performance.Although our group perform better but the thing is it could be better. We are waiting more than what it should be.I time the whole game is about 6 hours. People in front of us instead of moving forward they are spending there time looking for their lost balls. We did inform the pro shop but nothing happen so we just waiting and waiting.
Sunnyvale Muni
Is in better than usual shape. Greens good to great, fairways lush. An occasional " casual water " areas, but a good trade to see fairways so lush.
Had a 4-hour 18-holes, w/ a fast 4-some in front of our 3, going to 2-some after #2, yet they were never in our way! Nice round of golf!
Only complaint, was that our "hot deal" was only available @ 12:37 or 1:00 pm . . . We like to start EARLIER, say 8:30am, but the price made our decision. A 55 + "Senior Rate" would also bring me out more, (60 in August, lol!).
Oh, another minor issue. Wish Sunnyvale had a driving net or "cage" (no driving range), just so we can take full swings at balls to warm up!

Great shape; Excellent pace of play
The course was in great shape, especially the greens. We played 18 in just under 3 1/2 hours.
Sunnyvale golf course
Very well kept course a lot more challenging from the tips, surprisingly great pace considering it was a weekend...just wish the quality of sandis better but overall I always liked this course. Greens were true.. will be back for sure..,
Adequate golf course
Tee boxes, greens and fairways are in pretty good shape. Rough has some weeds growing, but it's not too bad. Course isn't particularly interesting - very flat, few hazards, sand traps weren't great. Very walkable; I'd recommend not taking a cart.
Concession stand looks like it hasn't been open in years. There's nearly no drinking water on the course, and there's no refreshment cart.
Slow play was not an issue - Saturday at 10:30am and we played 18 in 4:40.
All in all, it's adequate, and I'd prefer to play here than many of the other public courses in the area.
Pretty flat
Pretty much flat has 2 somewhat challenging holes no restaurant no
snack bar at turn
Good course
Played 18 in 4 25 hrs with cart. Course was in good shape. Friendly staff. Good day.
Course was in decent condition. Greens had been punched a few weeks ago, so they were still a little bumpy. Tee boxes need some work.
Pace of play was terrible. People there need to learn about "ready play".
Standard Muni
Despite all the rain we've had, the course has held up pretty well. No issues other than lots of thick rough. The greens are in good shape and rolled fairly quick
I'd rather have a root canal
This wasn't one of the worst courses I've played in the over 50 years of playing golf it was without a doubt the worst golf course I've ever played. There is really nothing good to say except I enjoyed the buddies I was playing with. Nothing memorable, no signature holes, flat including the greens and between 2 major freeways. In fact there is a tunnel to go under the freeway to play some of the holes. Very loud, distracting and difficult to hear. No water on the course! One bathroom in clubhouse and one on course on other side of freeway. Very few bushes to stand behind so if you are planning to play here then plan to hold your bladder. Restaurant and bar is closed so stop by 711 and pick up beer, water and snacks because you won't get them on the course. Modffit field is next door so be prepared for aircraft noise and distraction as well. I don't think I'd play this course even if it were free never mind pay $66 including cart to play. Highway robbery for a course of this low caliber. At Oh did I mention we lost several balls in the fairway that were hidden under cut grass. Traps very marginal. Tees, fairways and greens. we're in average shape. I recommend closing the course and doing something more useful with the land. Sorry for the negative review but it's the truth
