Pleasant Experience
The greens were the best part of this course. The greens were smooth, quick, and soft. The layout was challenging, but fair. There were obvious signs that this was a country club gone public.
Hot out but nice play
Nice and wide open. Had a great day and nice weather.
Great greens but wind blew ball around on them
Very nice golf course. To bad it was so windy especially for the back nine. Wind blew the ball around on the very nice greens. Fairways were a little dry, but overall in good condition.
Fast Greens and Strategic Water
The day we played Tracy G&CC, the weather was warm and there was a light breeze. There are plenty of ponds around the course to add a challenge. Two of the par 3 are long and have devilish ponds in front of the greens. The greens were very fast and it took a few holes to get used to them. The greens were in very good condition.
As others have noted, there is a highway cutting the course into two and associated highway noise. However, this soon becomes just background noise and not a bother.
Work was being done on holes #15 and especially #16. Sixteen was shortened to a 109 yard hole.
The fairways were is decent shape and you would get plenty of roll.
The course was not crowded so we could play at our own pace (3.25 hours).
The only drawback was they don’t have logo balls for sale. We like to collect logo balls from all the courses we play.
There is a driving range there with well-worn mats.
We had a great day and enjoyed the course.
Very friendly staff
During the week, especially midday, you may find but a few golfers on the course. With the exception of the traffic noise on the 580 freeway, this can be a very relaxing day on the course. $35 includes cart and all the range balls you can hit. The only negative is one entire hole was closed for repair (#16 - you had to skip it completely). With that in mind it would have been nice and appropriate to have the green fees reduced by a few dollars.
HORRIBLE
Was greeted on the first tee box by someone mowing ... And mowing ... and mowing. Headphones in ... Didn't bother to notice we were sitting there for 5 minutes ... Fairways are decent, greens were recently punched BUT 2+ feet outside EVERY/ANY cut ... The WORST conditions. Kind of a "golf course" ... would rather play at ANY local muni without the hassle of the drive. 5some in front as well ... and they hopefully had some serious cash on the line for how much time they spent over every ball. Overall a horrible experience. First and LAST time. Wouldn't play it again if you paid me. Don't do it!
Excellent Course for the price
This was the second time playing this course, and they were doing maintenance on a couple of holes due to damage from traffic from the freeway. The course was in pretty good condition otherwise. I enjoyed playing this course and look forward to continue to play it in the future.
Great Course
This course is in great shape for the this time of year. The greens are in perfect shape. Shot my lowest round of my career so far a 78 from the blue tees!
Very Friendly Staff
I didn't finish all 18 holes, but after 5 it started raining. Chris one of the staff members kindly offered that if I wanted a refund he will voucher it. I called Golfnow and - yes my tee time was refunded. Thanks, Chris. Will play here again!!
Tracy CC
Very nice staff - even warned of condition of course.
Add to your list
A very fair course.
The signature hole with the water in front is a thrill.
Got My Rocks Off
What's with the "Fair" rating? Despite the friendly staff from the Pro Shop to the Bar/.Rest.? Despite the fast pace (in 40* but plenty of sunshine and nobody was there at noontime on a Sunday)? Despite the great Golfnow rate? There is absolutely NO green grass on the fairway. It's all brown, dried grass and down-to-the-dirt fairways. But and this is a big but...the greens are FANTASTIC and I mean FANTASTIC!!!!. It seems they decided to do all the maintaining on the greens. They are really FANTASTIC!!! I attended a party among close friends late afternoon that Sunday and I had some time to play close to where the party was and Tracy GCC barely made the time worth it.
Good course and not busy
This was a nice course and there was not many people there. We were able to play at our own pace without have to wait for anyone. The course has some challenging holes that are longer than other courses that I have played. The biggest draw back to this course is that it is off the side of a major freeway so there is a lot of freeway noise.
Muni course
OK course condition and experience, It not the country club feel or condition, its more of a muni course. Good value for the low price paid on golfnow.
Great Course, maintained fairways and fast greens.
The course could not be easier to get to from I-5, I-580 or 132. Tracy Country Club presents several challenging and beautiful holes. The course features par 3's over water and the 17th and 18th are great holes to close out a nice day. The entire course is excellently maintained and the staff is superb. Friendly reception and the check-in was fast and hastle free with golf now. A great bargain.
corse is in poor condition
green were in good condition, however fairways, Tee boxes were in poor condition.there was a lot of GUR
Nice Flat Course
Nice and wide open golf course . Easy to walk with moderate degree of difficulty. Scene is quite nice too. Must try out at least once...
Tracy GCC
A friend and I played Tracy and absolutely lived the Course. The fairways are nice and wide and the rough isn't going to penalize that errant shot. The greens are maintained well and are a joy to putt on. Highly recommended for the amateur looking for a challenge.
greens way to fast
this course is about average on the challenging aspect, even if you aren't straight off the tee the recovery is there to be had except on a couple holes where there are out of bounds on the left. which means not narrow and inundated with trees. however the real challenge comes on the greens. this is only the second time i played this course and i guess i forgot how fast the greens are. I no grass expert but they have two types of grass on the greens and for whatever reason the combination of the two make for extremely fast greens and not because they aren't maintained or dried out. I shot a 91 but should have been in the mid 80's if not for the greens. Not hating just saying. Be prepared to "tap". Overall a decent course and close to me. If you've ever played Old River in tracy you know that Tracy CC is the only decent course in tracy.
Ok course, needs a little work
I have lived in Tracy for 13 years and never played the course. For the most part I felt the course was ok, but at $40 bucks there are better options like Diablo. Back half needs to have the water features cleaned up. Couple of the "ponds" were empty of water. Also, they shut down the food station on the back half early. At the start they said it was open, but when I got there around 2:30, they had already closed up and left...sign said open till 3. played starved for the back half, my fault for not packing a protein bar. Staff in pro-shop when I check in were great.
