Great Course
This is a great course to keep your game up, the 2 par 5's are long enough to challenge you and the rest of the holes keep the game fun.
Nice short game course
Westlake golf course is a par 67 course that is stil challenging, It is a good place to sharpen up your short game, but still has some long par 4 and par 5 holes. Give it a try, you'll like the shape the greens are in.
Nice but extremely slow pace of play
Westlake golf course is a well maintained course. We used the Golf Now special pricing for an early afternoon tee-time. We were expecting to play through at least 15 holes before the sunset. However, the pace of play was extremely slow (>20 minutes/hole). The Marshall instead of keeping on top of things was making excuses for the slow pace of game. We hardly got through 9 holes before we were forced to stop because of low light.
Cannot whole heartedly recommend this course because of this experience. In essence go for this course if you have lots of money to waste and do not care about the pace of play.
Good course if you live nearby and want to keep costs down
Westlake has been my "home course" since I was a teenager. Decent enough place if you live/work nearby and just want to get out and swing the sticks on an executive course.
My main complaint is the leaves. They are everywhere making it very difficult to find balls, even your balls do land in the fairway. There is also always a substantial amount of goose turds in the grass so be ready to avoid those. Also the final holes on the back 9 are tiny par 3s which remind me of a pitch and putt.
That being said, while I sometimes get frustrated with the conditions at Westlake, I will continue to go back when I dont have the time to drive out to Camarillo, Simi/Moorpark, or Oxnard.
Great Practice course
Staff at bar and concessions are very unfriendly and rude.
The greens run true
Westlake is an easier course. Flat, but tree lined. Plays fast when there are no walkers. Greens are excellent. Busy on weekends. Driving range is well marked to ck you distances.
Best Short Game Practice
The course is in average condition but the length and layout are perfect for practicing those mid-irons that sometimes never see light on the longer more challenging courses. Pace of play is unbelievably good for a course with lots of beginners.
I like course a lot. Greens are pretty good, some small bumps.
Easier course. I go here because of the price and about a 10 stroke differential with other harder courses - good for your ego. Very good public course conditions. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Nice little tree lined course for beginner and intermediate players.
I play this course approximately 2 to 3 times a month. Easy to get a tee time, the staff are great. The course is built for beginners, intermediate players and seniors. I.m a intermediate senior. Challenging but a couple of really short par 3's.
Confidence building course
The course was pretty packed. We tee'd off about 15 minutes late, and slow pace continued until a couple groups ahead of us packed it in after the front 9. The course is very short, with the average par 4 probably about 275 yards, so it felt good to be able to lob on after my tee shot, and this kept my score down. This is on top of the fact that its a par 67. It is a bit narrow though, and some trees poke out horizontally directly into your line off the tee, which is challenging. The atmosphere of the course is pretty casual, which has positives and negatives. Decent value for the hot deal price I paid on GolfNow, but I dont think its worth their full price.
Fun Day with friends
Good times with the Westlake locals. Played with Bee. She beat me.
