About
Carved from acres of wooded countryside in Woodstock, Towne Lake Hills Golf Club takes advantage of the rolling green hills. The dramatic elevation changes make it difficult to find an even lie anywhere on the course. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, incorporated a variety of challenges that makes each hole unique including a deft smattering of sand bunkers. The golf course depends as heavily on course management and strategy as it does on shot-making skills. It is a challenge to say the least, but it's fair. There are also four sets of tees that make it more approachable. One of the most memorable holes is the fifth. This par 5 presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity that will make you think. Towne Lake Hills G.C. boasts consistently good course conditions and idyllic scenery that make the round even more enjoyable.

Lots of blind shots and uneven lies
Lots of slope in fairways and greens. Greens had lots of unrepaired ballmarks on them. Most par 4 and 5's you cant see the green from the tee and several where you cant see the green from the approach shot. Very difficult to figure out the correct approach shot when playing for the first time. Course felt very gimmicky.

Solid course overall
Course is ultimately well taken care of. A few of the tee boxes were hard and/or worn down, but that’s something I see them tending to quickly and not something that’s fixed overnight (or in the cold). Plays wide for the most part so you don’t need to worry about hitting any houses as a beginner. Fast and challenging greens. A lot of doglegs right, if that’s your preference.

Slow
Tee’d off at 2pm. Last putt rolled in the cup at 7:10pm. Completely and utterly appalling how slow golf courses have become. It’s what happens when you let these guys out wearing running shoes, shirts not tucked in not repairing ball marks, lining up putts for 9s looking for their Top Flite ball for 20 minutes after hitting it 20 yards in the woods all while playing from the tips. It’s not just Towne Lake. It’s EVERYWHERE.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. I love playing Towne lake Hills. I was a member years ago. The course was in good condition and the pace of play was good.

Greens are in rough shape
We played with two regulars. They apoligized for the greens conditions. they said it was aeriated 1 1/2 weeks ago. The greens were very slow and bumby. I left so many putts short along with our entire foursome. No where on the website did it say, watch out for aeriated greens. I am getting tired of this.

Five Hour Round - Confirmed by course Ranger
Played on Wednesday, teed off at 8:50. Foursome in front of us with multiple open holes in front played a 5 hour round. Complained to the Ranger and he said they were right on schedule and they were old. So from that we have determined that a standard round of golf at TowneLake Golf Club is five (5) hours. Keep that in mind. Ranger is there to get a tan and nothing else.

Slow round again
Good course, decent shape for the amount of play
Pace is getting terrible, usually a 5-6 hour round even during the week, Marshall’s refuse to help with enforcing pace whether it’s a Tuesday or a Sunday

Great Golf Club
Staff super friendly and professional. Course in excellent condition.

Thankfully, I played here on a Hot Deal.
A small range bag was $10. The range was mats-only.
The starter (a man named Dick) and the bag-drop guy were very friendly, and instructive in orienting me around the grounds, as this was my 1st round here.
The pace of play was glacial, the tees were pretty rough on about 1/3 of the holes, the fairways were in good shape for the most part, although tee shots in the fairways didn't roll out very much.
The rough, although not even ankle-deep, made a lot of our foursome's golf balls disappear.
The course plays a lot longer than the distance on the score card.
Every green had dozens and dozens of ball marks. On each green I repaired a minimum of 10 marks as our group putted.
There were a lot of high school golfers there, I presume for a tournament, which really slowed play.
The course is pretty, but not really very fun to play.

One of my favorites
I always find the staff very friendly and helpful. It's also one of the few courses I see rangers/marshallers on regularly. the course is fun, but challenging enough for a mid-level skilled golfer.

Hanging in there
It was a five hour round and the greens are struggling some. It's an old favorite of mine but it's showing some strain.
