About
Carved from acres of wooded countryside in Woodstock, Towne Lake Hills Golf Club takes advantage of the rolling green hills. The dramatic elevation changes make it difficult to find an even lie anywhere on the course. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, incorporated a variety of challenges that makes each hole unique including a deft smattering of sand bunkers. The golf course depends as heavily on course management and strategy as it does on shot-making skills. It is a challenge to say the least, but it's fair. There are also four sets of tees that make it more approachable. One of the most memorable holes is the fifth. This par 5 presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity that will make you think. Towne Lake Hills G.C. boasts consistently good course conditions and idyllic scenery that make the round even more enjoyable.

Fairways
Fairways need a lot of help. Lots of areas with no grass just bare ground. Greens were mostly acceptable with few weeds.

Nice round, first time at course
Towne Lake Hills is a challenging course, especially if you haven't played it before. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it- I did, it was tough but fair overall. It's just very unforgiving if you find yourself off the fairway or primary rough, as the woods are thick and OB is everywhere with the houses all along the course. A lot of the fairways are so sloped it's extremely difficult for them to hold even good drives.
Fairways & greens were in excellent shape. A lot of the tee boxes really need help.
Staff was friendly & accommodating. Would play again.

Challenging Course
Greens were close to perfect condition. Bunkers were well maintained. The fairways had few spots with no grass but understandable. Staff were very friendly. It is quite a long course and challenging. Highly recommendable.

Rain all day the prior day
Course drains great. expected to see major mud. but very well maintained. Greens were perfect. Nice course.

Town Lake review
Town Lake is a challenging layout with undulating fairways and quick greens. Pace was unusually slow to to a morning tournament. Staff was accommodating as usual ….al staff professional and friendly

Not a fun time..
We took an afternoon tee time hoping it wouldn’t be as busy. They had a high school tournament going on right behind our tee time at 2pm. The tournament staff or spotters kept coming up in to our play the entire time. Then to make it worst they let a walk-in group hop in the back 9 so then we had to wait even longer even though they told us we needed to hurry because we were “5minutes” behind pace. This was my second time to the course and probably last. How do you have starter but still can’t get groups out at their times?

Great layout but terrible early season conditions
Fairways and tee boxes are a mess. Dormant or no grass and hard ground everywhere. Needs expert attention and then let nature do its job. The greens are excellent though! Time and attention will hopefully restore this popular course to a more enjoyable round.

Still not worth it
Played 4/17 on a hot deal with coupons, so certainly cannot complain about the price. But Towne Lake continues to disappoint. Lots of tee boxes with little to no grass and some rough spots around the greens. Pace of play for a Monday afternoon was four hours and 45 minutes. For the regular rates, the neighborhood course continues to disappoint.
