Towne Lake Hills Golf Club
About
Carved from acres of wooded countryside in Woodstock, Towne Lake Hills Golf Club takes advantage of the rolling green hills. The dramatic elevation changes make it difficult to find an even lie anywhere on the course. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, incorporated a variety of challenges that makes each hole unique including a deft smattering of sand bunkers. The golf course depends as heavily on course management and strategy as it does on shot-making skills. It is a challenge to say the least, but it's fair. There are also four sets of tees that make it more approachable. One of the most memorable holes is the fifth. This par 5 presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity that will make you think. Towne Lake Hills G.C. boasts consistently good course conditions and idyllic scenery that make the round even more enjoyable.

The best shot of my life. My first shot on hole 11. 308 yard par 4. Photo submitted by u000007718501 on 11/12/2013
Good Course
Great Staff. Marshall' kept the pace of the game in order. I was a single player but was hooked with great guys in the Foursome. Had a great day.
Great Day!
I live in Towne Lake so this course is my "Go To" course when friends come to town. This course is one of the best values in the metro Atlanta area. Its pace of play is always good, Marshall's are always friendly and on course refreshments are available. The clubs restaurant service is always great. Before or after your rounds make sure you enjoy a sandwich ( Steak & Blue roll-up is my favorite ) in the clubhouse you can't go wrong!
Nice course
I liked the course, although, it was pretty tight and hilly. Bring some golf balls if your a first timer with a 20+ handicap.
The staff was friendly however, when I put my receipt for my round in the car...I had to go back upstairs for verification or the starter would not let me go.
Overall, a decent experience
Great value and GREAT course
The course was nice as always but the staff went above and beyond.
review
Course is just coming out of growth after weird winter and spring months here. Other then that was in good shape. Have played here many times and caught the reviews about pace of play. I would rather play a course where they care about pace of play then one where there is no care for pace of play. Most of my rounds at Towne Lake have been on time with a few over but i will be back because they monitor pace of play unlike most golf courses in the area.
Towne Lake
The course had been aerated probably a couple of weeks earlier but still played nicely
Terrible experience
This was a terrible experience. We finished our round in 4 h and 19 min - the pace of play was for a 4h 30 min round. We were hounded by course Marshall’s as early as the second hole To pick up the pace. We were even told we would be forced to skip a hole if we did not pick up our speed - even though we were ahead of the allotted schedule and speed of play. We were told that we had to keep pace w a 2 ball that was playing off the senior tees in front of us.... I’m a scratch golfer and understand sensitivity to long rounds - but having incompetent Marshall’s who do not understand that it is not possible for a 4 ball to keep pace w a 2 ball went right over there heads - won’t be back ever.... such a disappointment
This course is a joke
I have spent the last 5 years in Phoenix until I made the unfortunate move here so I know how good courses should be managed. Never in my life have I had to deal with a course that is run so poorly. 4 of the 7 days, the range is off of mats only. The management obviously doesn’t care about pace of play because I was stuck behind a 7 some the other day. On top of that, they believe that charging $33 at 5pm is a good deal. Drive 10 minutes up the street to Bridgemill and do yourselves a favor. At least that place is worth the money. This one is run by clowns.
Pleasant change of pace
Have not played at Towne Lakes in over 8 months and it was a nice change of pace to what I had been playing at other courses in northern Georgia
Course in good shape
Greens and fairways are coming in well for springtime. Staff is exceptionately curteous and helpful. I will play here again soon.
Love this course!
A nice layout, almost always in great condition, and a nice 19th hole. This course is in my normal rotation, worth the 45 minute drive.
Rangers
This course is nice and worth the price. Pro Shop staff is nice and the starters are nice.
However the rangers at this course are absurd. All they care about is making sure you keep up with group in front of you. Doesn’t matter if you are on schedule for a 4 hour pace of play or not. They don’t care if your holding anyone up or not. They just want to make sure you keep up with group ahead. Even if the group ahead is a twosome and your a foursome. Sometimes there will be multiple rangers on the same hole chasing you in order to make sure. Other times they will force you to skip holes just to make sure you keep up. Th u don’t seem to care whether you enjoy your round they seem to be most focused on the gap between you and the group in front.
Nice Metro Course
Generally good layout. Course just coming out of winter mode - fairways were just beginning to green up. Homes do not really influence play. Many holes require "insider knowledge" in club selection and where to play your ball - we were lucky to be paired with a regular who knew when to lay off the Driver and go with an Iron instead. Generally good experience.
Would play it again.
Hilly time
On complaint about this round was that the greens had recently been aerated which was not noted when I booked my tee time. Love the course but would have waited until greens had recovered and not played the course at this time.
Towns Lake Golf
A friend and I selected this course because it is located about half way between us and it was a good price. We thoroughly enjoyed the round. It is a very hilly course. The cart was welcome as walking could be tiring. The greens were recently aerated and sanded so they were sometimes bumpy, but eventually will improve.
