Towne Lake Hills Golf Club
About
Carved from acres of wooded countryside in Woodstock, Towne Lake Hills Golf Club takes advantage of the rolling green hills. The dramatic elevation changes make it difficult to find an even lie anywhere on the course. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, incorporated a variety of challenges that makes each hole unique including a deft smattering of sand bunkers. The golf course depends as heavily on course management and strategy as it does on shot-making skills. It is a challenge to say the least, but it's fair. There are also four sets of tees that make it more approachable. One of the most memorable holes is the fifth. This par 5 presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity that will make you think. Towne Lake Hills G.C. boasts consistently good course conditions and idyllic scenery that make the round even more enjoyable.

The best shot of my life. My first shot on hole 11. 308 yard par 4. Photo submitted by u000007718501 on 11/12/2013
This course not female friendly
The golf club check in was not friendly and as I am a 68 year old woman who enjoys playing with her adult son, when we can, we were paired with 2 gentlemen that were a bit more serious about their game. We were pushed by another group of "men" behind us whom we let play through. Did not really matter as there was another group behind them but that was not a problem. I recently moved here from Maui, Hawaii and have played first class courses throughout the islands. For the money, the "good ol boy attitude" and the greens being in bad shape were not worth it. Too bad because this course is very close to my home.
Course was in good condition
The course was in good condition. Greens were a little slow, but kept well. Lots of rain the day before made the greens very soft. The layout is challenging, but not too hard. Very convenient location off of 575.
Could have used more visits from the drink cart, but all in all a good day of golf.
RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF!!
I had a threesome and we would have liked to play alone. I explained that we would be willing to wait or jump forward to be able to play just the three of us. The manager (white haired man) rudely said that it was "not his problem." I would have been fine with we are too busy to accommodate etc but he was downright RUDE! Followed us outside to start to make sure the starter marshal did not accommodate us. Also,
you will never get a decent flat lie on this course. Nothing but up and down, hills, moguls in the fairways. Lots of blind shot to the green. More like pinball than golf. I WILL NEVER RETURN!! STAY AWAY!
Nice Course for the Money
The location is great from where I live which is East Cobb. Decently challenging golf course with a few "what was the course designer thinking" holes and in particular the 18th. Otherwise a good alternative at the right price.
Solid Course
The layout is challenging and fun! Conditions were fine but not great. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous! Played at 5:00PM on a Tuesday for $28!
Watch for People Walking the Course
Had two Families with children walking the cart paths while I was hitting my tee shot. Very frustrating to have to deal with on a golf course. Also had a dog running through the fairway and a young guy launching balls across the fairway over my head from his back yard. Course was in good shape. Greens looked like they had been plugged a while ago and that was beginning to grow back.
Nice Course
Pace a little slow , saw ranger a little too much be he was nice. Concerns where he would park was dangerous. Great course sand traps were in excellent shape. Greens nice.
Great Layout and Fun Course to Play
Course was in great condition for this time of year. The greens were still healing from being punched recently, but they're still rolling true and fast. I only wish more people would use the common courtesy to repair ball marks. I did my best and repaired at least 1 or 2 more than my own. It's pretty sad people just disregard that part of the game. Other than that, everything was pretty much awesome. Bunkers were well maintained and as they should be. Will play again soon as I live very close.
Challenging Course & a Great Day
The course was in good condition except for the remains of the recent aeration on the greens and teh weather was a bit cool which made for a great day of golf. Liked the course layout and the challenges it presented.
NEW PRO SHOP MANAGER
I play this course a dozen times annually. Last week was my first round since last June due to tendonitis in both elbows. I purchased a pre-paid tee time on this website. I arrived 60+ minutes prior to my tee time, purchased range balls and proceeded to the driving range. I was ready to start playing in about 30 minutes and went to the pro shop to notify the Manager I was teeing off early because the course was basically empty based on the number of cars in the parking lot.
He notified me if I tee'd off even 10 minutes early I would be required to pay an additional fee. I stated I played many rounds annually and routinely was permitted to go out early if no one was scheduled on the tee sheet for that earlier time. He stated he was the new manager and attempted to shake my hand but stood firm about additional fees if I played early.
The young man is VERY young. I would bet he is right out of college and I told him it was not right to make me wait considering so many golf courses to play. Why would he go so far out of his way to be such a jerk for basically $10.
He stated he did not want me to stop playing at Towne Lake but again, almost daring me not to start early. I thought afterwards if he was willing to call the police if I started early and did not pay additional fees?
Beware on your prepaid tee times at this course as long a the young man enforces the rule to the letter.
I will be playing this course in the future when the manager is not working.
Our March Round
We enjoy playing Towne Lake because the course is usually in good conditions and although the greens are relatively fast, they offer a fair test for the above average player.
Challenging course for all levels.
The course was in good shape for early March. This course is a fair challenge for all levels. Make sure you bring your shot game with you. The green complexes are tricky.
St. Pats day play
Course was in very good shape and greens rolled true--not too fast or slow-- tee boxes and fairways were also appealing with green grass already showing up on fairways. The staff is always helpful checking in (also got a handicap) and the cart girl was in great spirits. Tough but fair test, go check it out!
No where to hit it
This is a great and challenging course. Need to know where to place the ball on the course. Fun challenging course requiring good course management.
Very very wet day....
Very good layout with a very challenging course. Of course the day I played was right after Atlanta had five inches of rain...Making play very difficult....
Nice value - challenging course!
Had a nice time playing this course for the first time. Weather was a little chilly, and due to it being Autumn, the course showed that it was going through seasonal changes. However, it was a great course with very challenging layout. Would definitely play it again!
Wet
Course is in very good condition. I'm not a fan of the layout but the price was right.
