Hole #18 Photo submitted by Tim9157706 on 02/16/2013
Since 1998
Has always been kept at a higher standard since it opened head starter still there since opening day chatted with him and we were off. Nice 3:50 round and we were a twosome behind a foursome . It sure beat the time we had the day before at RUM POINTE there we started at 12:50 and finished at 6:40 awful, that would never happen at baywood as they actually have rangers that ive seen in the past have people pickup and move to next hole. For $99 I'll keep coming back as I have for 18 years. Keep up the good work thanks for another enjoyable round
Baywood Beautiful
A beautiful and moderately challenging course. The fairways are extremely well tended, the greens could be smoother, There is a mix of challenges for the average to above average player but the course is also just a beautiful place to spend a day.
One of the best in the OC area
A must-play. Beautiful course. Interesting holes.
Pretty Course Full of Flowers
Haven't played this course in a couple of years and it's just as pretty as I remembered. Some nice carries, level fairways and tee boxes with nice views. One of only 5 groups playing here on a hot day and was SHOCKED to learn entire course CART PATH only! Must protect course? Lots of walking on a hot day. Not disclosed at booking and while we didn't see anyone on the course the whole round I can see why. Not much value in a sophisticated GPS device on cart when you can't leave the cart path. Many fairways soft with no rollout on drives so course played long. Would suggest checking cart rule prior to playing. Under normal conditions worth playing. Forward tees are 250 yard shorter on par 5's so good for high handicap golfers to score well.
Great course
beautiful course and great services.
Could have been better!!
Baywood is one of the nicest courses I have played. No small feat considering I've played in 6 countries and about 20 states including several British Open venues and TPC courses in the states. I work in the golf industry and am regularly asked for course recommendations. Baywood is always on the top of my list for the DelMarVa area and I was looking forward to my first trip to the area this year and playing it again. I was surprised to learn while checking in that it was cart path only, and patrons who were leaving as we were arriving, were miserable and complaining that none of them were informed of this when they called for tee times. Delaware has had record temps and humidity this week, 95 degrees the norm. To the point that play appeared to be down at the course, not many cars in the lot. The course regardless appeared to be in good shape, not suffering or burnt, nor appearing to nessitate cart path only either? It was simply miserable to walk back and forth from cart path to ball and I'm certain the average golfer isn't going to bother to carry the fill jug back and forth to fill divots which creates its own issues. I realize the superintendent has to ensure the health of the course is maintained in the oppressive heat...... But he should consider the health of the paying public in the heat as well. There are plenty of other nice courses in the area. As much as I like Baywood, the rest of my vacation week, and golf business will be elsewhere in the area....... And none of those courses are enforcing cart path only..... At least not on the days I've played.
Golf Travler
The course is beautiful, not intimidating, staff were friendly. It does have the wow factor. But definitely book through golf now.
First class course. Impossible not to enjoy.
There are hundreds of golf courses in the United States that are simply a cut above the rest. Very few golf courses that I have played in my lifetime I would not play again simply because I love the game and it is economically feasible. Some golf courses you wish you could play more often because it is in the upper echelon of golf courses.
Baywood Greens is worth the money, the time and the memories.
Course is beautiful
The range did not have balls available to hit. The greens were very slow and did not role true. The conditions of the greens were disappointing
flowers
course was great. club house service slow and was not crowded.
Wow. Play this course ASAP.
I had wanted to play Baywood since it opened in 2000 and it was worth the wait. This place is beautiful. From the putting green to the practice area and driving range all the way to the 18th green, sometimes it's hard to focus on the golf. The landscaping is incredible, and the course is even better. Five sets of tees for golfers of every level, rough that you can find your ball in, and greens that roll pure. I was paired up with two other golfers and we had a great round. Pace of play was great, and neither the heat or the bugs were an issue. If you're in the area and looking to play golf, don't mind the price... just play this course. Looking forward to going back this fall with some of my friends from Central PA.
A feast for the eyes
In addition to being a great course, the landscaping is simply amazing!
What a super experience!
My wife and I have played all over and Baywood is a hidden gem. The staff, the layout, the conditions were as good, if not better, than many private clubs. We will play it again when in the area. The only negative is the driving range is mats only but they get a lot of play.
Baywood Greens is a must play in DE
Baywood has the best practice facilities around - second to none! Get there early for a complete warm-up prior to the round and enjoy.
Great Golf in Delaware!
This might be the best course I've ever played in regards to the course conditions and the course layout. They call this course the "Augusta of the North" and though I've never been to Augusta I can't imagine any course being more meticulously kept this than this course. NOTHING was out of place on this golf course and it is just unbelievable visually. The grounds even smell good with all the flowers.
The layout of the course is fantastic and provides a good challenge to any level of golfer. They are also building another nine holes right across the street from the main course with a links style to it and it looks amazing also.
I had know clue that Delaware had it going on like that. Fantastic golf course and well worth the drive.
Not as nice as it used to be, but still one of my favorites
This is the first time that I've played here and could not give it all fives in ratings. The course is still one of the most beautiful courses you will play and except for the speed of the greens the course is in excellent shape. I don't know why they were as slow as they were. They were not wet! Also the pace of play was horrendous. There were many holes where we were waiting in the shadows of the teeing area for the foursome in front of us to tee off. And on the infamous Island Fairway, we thought the foursome in front of us left. We all went for the island and three of us didn't make it. After searching and dropping, all the sudden appears the foursome in front of us. Or should I actually say they were in the regular Fairway behind us. Please don't let this deter you from going to one of the most incredible courses not only locally but across this beautiful country. I'm only writing this so the course knows the problem.
Awesome Place to Play
I will keep this simple....Absolutely exceptional course, staff, and facilities.
enjoyed every minute
Played here on 5-9-16 and truly believe that this course sets the standards in this area. There was not one person I talked to who does not like the course. The attention to detail on each hole does not go un-noticed. The staff was excellent, great pro-shop and super clean restrooms throughout the course. We will definitely make the trip back soon to play again. Hopefully the new course will be done by then.
The Best In Delaware
In my humble opinion. Everything here is first class. It is a fun, playable course with water on 11 holes. Special detail to plants, shrubbery, and flowers (not necassary, but nice). My favorite hole, all of them but, my very favorites were #14, par 4 with split fairway and the left side being an island. #15 uphill par 3 and #16 par 5 with forced carry over pond and again on you approach shot. OK food. Staff was friendly. Even the practice ranch was special.
Three weeks for greens to recover?
Awesome layout, very difficult to play on a windy day. greens were atrocious, I was told they airated 3 weeks before, but they were still super bumpy.

I meant practice "range".
