Road Trip
This is a place that truely looks like the pictures you see, water fountains upon arrival, almost castle like club house and very friendly people. Due to my own error I overshot the course by 20 miles. I called the club to let them know I may be behind on my tee time.
I made it with about 10 minutes but that blew out my range time and settle in and get the feel. I was paired with a nice couple from DC that played here before we were escorted to the 1st tee box and a quik runover of the course by the starter. we had decent drives nice approach shots and then,,,, the putting greens.the " A" word and recently done. Aerrated sandy putting surface ughhh!
Ok,, we are there we are going to play on but the air of excitement is out of the balloon. I have to say that the the place is really a lovely place, the layout the condition the scenery,, is all worth the price of admission and this is a view from the end of March. Summer prime time must be overwhelming. I'm not enough of a golfer to give you technical golfing tips for any course or even details of shots to take etc. etc.. However I can tell you if you are in the area or want to do a trip set a tee time up for Baywood Greens. The one odity here is a mountain of a par 3 right after the island fairway hole. I just didn't get the whole thing, Tanglewwod has one similar to this but it fits there.
Other than that there are water challenges everywhere there are bunkers that feed into the water hazards as well they are great visuals and maticulously maintained. The cart paths are for the most part clearly marked and smooth, the carts have GPS and are quik but quiet. Overall I'm giving a solid 8+ for Baywood. I'll be back someday for sure. I can;t give a resturant evaluation I didn't stay to eat Its about a 2 hour ride from home and I wanted to get back.
I got out of there with a 96 I really blew up on the back.
Great course...great price
Back nine is both challenging and scenic
Wonderful
Great experience! I wish it were more affordable in the spring and summer months. Very nice course.
Love this place
I've played here a few times and it's always 5 stars ! The staff is always very nice and friendly. The course in the summer is always well maintained. I played on January 9th 2016 it was 55 degrees out and I basically had the course to myself.even under repair it was still a great course. I've played from Maine to Florida and this is still my favorite place !!! Keep up the great work !!!
Great course. Worth playing
Love Baywood. Number of tees to fit every golfer. Great condition and practice facilities
slow, but otherwise nice
This is a course we have played several times over the years. Always beautiful and well maintained. It's very popular, and for good reason. So, there's a chance the pace of play may drag a bit. Still worth it on a nice day.
Well worth the price
Was there on a golf vacation with 7 others. Only had a two in front of us. Pace of play was excellent and course was in excellent condition. recommend for long ball hitters. Group wants to play again next trip to Delaware.
Superb
Beautiful layout. Two different looks on nines. Place is definitely a treat. Pace was perfect as I played as a single behind fastest foursome ever. 3 hours and 50 min for round. Perfect course conditions, beautifully manicured. Greens were a little slow but it's end of season and they still were in good condition. Bunkers were perfect. Can't wait to revisit this one. Very well marshalled too. This is a Delaware must play.
slow play
The course was beautiful. The greens were in fair to poor condition with tons of ball marks and very thin after a aeration.the back nine plays incredibly slow due to water and no ranger. 7 minu\e wait on every shot. Won't go back.
Course features
A great golf course to play. Recommend to all that are 12 handicap and under. Above that my be to much course since you need to hit fairly straight drives.
Awesome except for the greens
This course is absolutely beautiful. The staff were all friendly and attentive. There were plenty of restrooms available throughout the course. My big concern was the condition of the greens. They had been aerated and putting accurately was almost impossible. When we finished golfing and inquired about the greens, we were told they had been aerated 2 weeks ago, but not rolled yet. For a course of this caliber, that was a disappointment.
Great day at a great course
Baywood Greens is an amazing golf course with great staff and great views. It is ranked #1 in Delaware for a reason. If you have not played it, I highly recommend it.
Labor day at Baywood Greens
we played this course over Labor Day weekend. We were told there were 300 golfers scheduled for that day. overall this is a beautiful course and well laid out. The course had recently been aerated and greens still showed the effect of the aeration holes as they were bumpy and slow. The club should reconsider their aeration schedule given the high level of play expected over Labor Day. It is unfortunate that they would does not have an alternate set of tees between white and black. The length difference is over 400 yards between the two they do have alternate Tees between white and green.
It is disappointing the club has not opened up the 3rd 9 built across route 24. This is a beautiful links-style 9 and has been under construction for more than 5 years. Overall I would rate Baywood as one of the better courses in southern Delaware.
Great course!
Love this course, always friendly and in great condition!

Too big for their britches
I was very excited to play this course as I had heard that it was very beautiful and different. However, as nice of condition as the course was in, it was overshadowed by the arrogance of the staff. From the time that I called to book the tee time (the rep was extremely rude), to the time that we checked in (again, the staff was extremely rude), to being followed around by rangers to make sure that the carts were not taken into the rough to find a ball, the whole experience was just bad. I think that they forget that the purpose of golf is to be enjoyable. People are paying $150 to go walk on their grass, and they could show a little appreciation for that. This is a course that has gotten too big for their britches, and think that they are a Pebble Beach like course. (which they are not). This is an above average middle farmland Delaware course that should appreciate the golfers that come pay their hard earned money to play there. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. Go spend your money elsewhere. You will have a better time.- One last thing- What course doesn't let you take your cart to your car after you're done to unload your bag? BAYWOOD doesn't!! I have a bad back, and I had to carry my bag 500 feet to my car because they won't let carts in the parking lot!! REAL SMART!!
Great course
I really enjoyed playing this course. In preparing for my trip to the Delaware beaches, I scouted out two main places - Bayside and Baywoods Green. I played Bayside first - on both days I was in the first public tee slot so pace of play wasn't an issue at either place.
My overall summary is that I wish I had just played Baywoods twice - especially since they were about the same price (little over $100 each). Bayside was enjoyable but I really don't remember much about it - I think their website noted there was water on every hole, and I think that was true.
Conversely, Baywoods has really stuck in my mind - there's the flowers (which I see mentioned a lot) but I also enjoyed how each hole felt unique. Some might say an island fairway is gimmicky, but I just found it fun and interesting. I stuck most of my par 3 tee shots in the water but I didn't care too much as I was also taking in the scenery.
All in all, I didn't score my best, but I loved every moment on the course. As a quick (3hrs 40min) round on vacation, I couldn't have asked for anything more.
Saturday 8/22
Course is in great shape as always. Paid $70.00 through GNow which made the round even better.
One of the Best Golf Courses in DE
One of the most beautiful public courses outside of Hawaii that I have played. Course was challenging but playable for the average golfer. Staff were friendly and did an excellent job of starting play so as not to cause waits. Pricy but well worth the money for the experience!
