Reliable Course
I play here frequently, especially when I need to play a quick round in the am. I have only encountered slow play here once in 30+ rounds at this course. They are one of the few courses that will always let you play as single as long as it is not in the middle of a bunch of foursomes. The conditions are consistently good to excellent and they will let you tee off in the dark (up to 30 minutes before daylight). I had to be somewhere by 11 am twice this summer. I made a tee time 20 minutes before daylight - one round took 2 1/2 hours by myself and the other round took 3 hours when I got paired with one other golfer. I doubt there are more than a handful of golf courses in the Atlanta are that could guarantee that pace of play. :) It sure would be nice if all golf rounds averaged 3 1/2 hours or less.
Too Many people allowed on the course.
Course backed up to the point of having 3 groups waiting to tee of in the middle of the round. This seems to be a perennial problem at the course and I will not play here until again until they resolve that.
Good round for 1
Overall the course was in good shape. It was fun to play but slow even with a morning tee time.
Great day and TCA was really helpful
Had a tee time for 2 booked online. When we showed up for play, we were told the greens were being aerated. They gave us a big discount and a few other perks/benefits. Given our play level, the greens did not bother us as we were just going to have fun.
Decent course
The people a really nice. Decent course. Better than many in the area.
The pace of play was horrible. The ranger did not come around to encourage playing thru or such. We finally were able after waiting what seemed endlessly. Made a 3.5 hr course play near 5 hrs..
Extremely Slow Play
We got started late on a Sunday afternoon thinking the crowds would be down, but it was the exact opposite. It was the second slowest round I have ever played in 15 years - only behind North Fulton, which is why I stopped playing there. The overall course is very short, but in nice condition. You basically don't need a driver. It would be worth it to play during an off time, but avoid the weekends at all costs.
great 4th of july weekend round of golf
the weather was fantastic! The staff were helpful and friendly; especially the starter who sent us off with excellent information and a wonderful attitude. The course was immaculate..best I've seen it. The greens were slicker that a car salesman on January 2nd! The price on the high side for a public course.
we started as a twosome but had two other golfers join us who were great guys and we had a fantastic fun round.
Customer service
My first experience in the proshop was with Mike. Great attitude, really friendly. I come in on the turn to grab a sandwhich and a gatorade and the pro is walking over to the grill about the same time. We meet at the counter and instead of letting a CUSTOMER go first, he creeps out the young lady at the counter and orders right in front of me! Really? I just walked out so I could keep my pace of play for the other golfers on course. Maintenance guys were polite while they were cutting the hole you were playing, greens are being sanding and very fast, fairways are in great condition, rough is long and tough.
Course Importments Underway
Greens have just been sanded and very fast. Some fairway renovations are underway. Bridges and cart paths under repair. Looks like they are doing alot of good improvements. Overall course in good condition considering heat and amount of play.
Course is in great shape!
Fairways and greens are lush and running well. Good value for the money. Very friendly staff.
Decent Course, Better Deals to be Had
Greens were in excellent shape, and lightning quick! Not so much on some of the tee boxes though - they need some serious work.
Course in Really Good Shape
But very slow round. We had to wait on every shot.
Incredible greens - decently challenging layout
Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways and bunkers also very well maintained. Some tee boxes were not so good, but it looked like they were rehabbing a few tees which causes over play on the tee boxes in use. Once the rehab is through, I would assume the tee box quality will improve.
Plenty of elevation change and dog legged holes that require a variety of different shots, which keeps the round interesting. Only one hole (#12) is straight and nearly flat.
Course needs color codes flags for pin positions. Elevation change makes it tough to tell where pins are. Flag sticks need prisms for range finders. Other than that, course is a great value for the money.
Bad staff
Starter very very rude. Give away tee times to other person then told me I could play by my self or wait another half hour. I had already been there 3/4 of an hour.. I'm a golf shop manger in Arizona and have been for 20 years. He would work for me about 5 seconds. I drove an hour to play and then be treated like that is not right. I' sure I will tell all of my friends about this that live in the area. I hope he comes to my course . Paul Eblin
Easygoing round - expectations met
Trophy Club is a convenient course to get to in North Metro Atlanta. That said the facilities are getting a little dated and worn. Practice range was closed Tuesday mornings which was surprising. No discount to fee. Course was in pretty good shape but many tee boxes worn on the back side. They are working on repairing many of them but they are really worn out. Fairways and greens in good shape with many greens having some scary slope for the uninitiated. Decent value for the money
Dissappointed
There were two tournaments going on at the same time and the members started their tournament a hour late which threw off everything. We were backed up 6 groups on one hole at one point, this is not a exaggeration. After playing almost 5 hours with 4 holes to play we decided to call it a day as the 15th tee backed up with 4 groups.
Overall good experience
Staff is always great here. Tee boxes were 'worn'; fairways and greens in good condition. Many blue tees understandably, co-habitating with the whites as they are attempting to re-groom tee sets so course played very short and easy. Completed round comfortably in less than 4 hours.
course needs money
the course has a great layout, but American golf is being very cheap and not putting money into it. there was more dirt than grass in the fairways. however I got to play with a few of the staff members and it was a delightful.
Excellent Course
I have played this course a couple years ago and it was nice then but this last time it was in the best condition I have ever seen. The fairways and greens were perfect. The value was second to none thanks to golfnow's rate. This is one of my favorite courses in the area. I like that you can play driver off most non-par 3's but you can also elect to use a long iron off the tee with manageable distance approach shots.
Good play to pla.
People are nice. Course is is good shape. Greens are nice (Champions Bermuda). I will play here again.
