Echelon Photo submitted by u000002499191 on 11/05/2012
Round of the year
My parents came to GA from CA once a year. Decided to take him to a top rated course. My friend recommended Echelon. The course is amazing. We all played well that day. Solid round. We had a fun day. Nobody was ahead or behind us. I have to rate it round of the year.
Thank you Echelon.
Oh the views
Traveling south from Maryland I was very surprised to see the elevation changes. Very dramatic, especially number 13. The practice facility is amazing. Grass range. Was considered off season by golf shop , would love to see it "in season". greens ran true.
Beautiful Course.
Many fantastic and challenging holes. A lot of hills to navigate. Not for golfers who may have difficulty walking up hill a lot. It was an awesome day and we had fun.
Solid layout tee to green, but…
First time playing Echelon. It was very scenic and a solid course tee to green. Pace of play was great & staff friendly.
Condition of the course was pretty good from tee to green, however the greens were another story. I realize there was recent aerification in past weeks but that wasn’t a the issue. It did not seem that the greens had been mowed in days. I have not played slower greens anywhere on a course. The bunkers were filled with footprints and it seems most players do not event bother trying to take them.
Overall a decent value and I would like to play again with better greens.
Great course
The course layout is great and conditions were good just a few house keeping things. No beverage cart riding around. Bunkers weren’t raked so compact sand in some and fluffy in others. The greens were a little slow. Other than that great course and staff was very friendly. Food inside the clubhouse was great. I would recommend and play here again! Oh great practice area and the views are spectacular throughout the course.
One of My Faves
I continue to be a huge fan of Echelon. I love the course, the layout, the fact that while it is in a community you really do not see any homes, so except for the maintenance equipment it is QUIET. This is not an easy golf course, but rather a fair challenge. I played the "blended tees" (white/blue) and that was 6200 yards. More than enough length for me. The course was in great shape for August, including the greens. The entire staff are friendly and genuinely happy to see you, from the fellas at the bad drop area, to the pro shop. The clubhouse is beautiful, serves excellent food and drinks and the practice area is a step above other public or semi private courses in the ATL area. My only critique is there needs to be a better presence of a Marshall on the course because pace of play is an issue sometimes. Also, a beverage cart on the course is not only welcomed and appreciated, but in the heat of August it is important! Thankfully there are water coolers on the course and they were all full of cold water.
Though it is a 40 minute drive for me to get there, Echelon is always worth the drive. Love this place.
Fantastic course, awful greens.
Every aspect of the course is in tremendous shape except for the greens. Every green is littered with non repaired ball marks and are extremely slow. Our foursome couldn’t make a putt all day due to every putt bouncing through blemishes. For one of the most expensive rounds in metro Atlanta I’d expect at least above average greens.
Greens were just sanded and SLOWWWWW
Got a good rate for the round, then found out why... greens are running about a 6.43 on Stimpmeter.
Wait til they are in better shape before you book.
Many blind holes due to steep uphill elevation changes or severe dog legs.
Could be Spectacular Course
I have played here 5 times in the past 6 weeks. 3 of those times, the greens were AMAZING. I mean, they were in great shape and lightening fast. Unfortunately, the other 2 times, including yesterday, the greens were rough... .VERY slow and ball marks galore. Now to be fair, it is a semi private course. I am sure the members take the time to repair ball marks, but it appears the general public has never learned how to do it. The ball marks were out of control. It was like putting on shag carpet yesterday, while dodging the ball marks.....not fun. That being said, when the greens are cared for and cut down, they are just wonderful to put on. Fast and true. I will play here again and like the course. The range is closed on Tuesday, so be prepared for that. I predict that someday in the next few years this course is completely private and will be one of, if not THE, premiere course in the area. Hopefully when you play it, it is on a day the greens are up to their potential.
Amazing course
Beautiful course and one of the toughest courses I’ve played in Georgia. Amazing facilities will definitely return
