18th Hole Photo submitted by baller1308 on 08/31/2015
Solid bang for buck
After a morning of rain, the greens still rolled at a 9 which is proof to a well managed course. Tee boxes we not all flat and at times narrow.
Very mediocre
Played 18 with a group of friends and while we were right on the tail of the group in front without being able to see the group behind we were still nagged by staff every 3rd hole to make sure we were keeping up with the pace of the course.
Food is standard hot dog or brat w chips - nothing special about the clubhouse.
All in all - nice course but nothing special.
Great Course
First time I played the course. Course was in great condition and well maintained, I will play here again.
Good value with friendly groups to play with
The white tees are great fun for someone who doesn't hit it long anymore...there's a nice mix of whites & blues on the card if you're not too concerned with distance. The rough was just cut so it played easier than other recent reviews mentioned but still not someplace you want to be. The greens were firm and got quicker as the sun dried them and the temperature went up. The best thing about this course for me (I'm only in Atlanta part-time) is the informal "Tee Times" group that plays every Tuesday and Thursday around 8:30am. When I'm in Atlanta I have a game with good guys I've met and more often than not have played with before.
Great day.
Course was in great shape, greens were hard but not as fast as a few weeks ago. The time of year with leaves on the ground and the rough grown up made it difficult to find balls that missed the fairway by the slightest. I wished this course had more convenient yardage markers around the holes. Not very hole had a 150 or 100 marker and the pin location was incorrect on a few of the 150 markers that were present.
Great course for the money. Starter was a little uptight, but the marshals on the course we're very nice and would track tee shots for us holes they were on! Will be returning to play again soon! If this place were closer I'd be a member!
Nice course
We played in light rain so the course was empty, but after a few holes it stopped and we played in mostly cloudy conditions. The course was empty, but it was in excellent shape.
Staff was friendly and got us on with no issues. Starter came around to make sure we were moving along and check in with us.
When we got to the back 9, we stopped to grab a bite and went to the 10th tee box and member had jumped on. He played fast, but it was annoying becuase as we waited another 2 sets of members piled up behind us. Apparently from other reviews that is common. Members should use common sense not an entitled sense, but if you are member of a country club you might struggle with that issue. I digress.
Course was very nice. Their were a few tight holes, but it is not unfair. Greens were excellent. They have some very beautiful holes as well. I think I would prefer to pay between 40-50 vs. $55. It's very nice, but I would not play again unless I got a significant deal.
Consistency is Good
Good pace of play. The course is in very good condition right now.
Course is in great condition!
The greens are fast, true, and consistent. Fairways allow for good run on accurate shots but stray into the thick Bermuda roughs and prepare for challenge finding and then hitting.
Not Quite What I Expected
Went here on the advice of a friend. Paid $66 for a mid-morning, mid-week round and was disappointed at the value I received. Practice facility was in OK condition, though the sand bunkers looked like they hadn't been cared for in weeks. Course was very narrow on nearly all holes. Felt like I could only use my driver on 6 or 7 holes given the layout. Fairways were in so-so shape. Cart-path only on 4 holes, not including the Par 3s. Greens on the course were in nice condition. Was hoping for more than I received.
Trophy Club North Atlanta
Nice place for the price, good practice range, putting green and chipping areas, sand trap for practice needs TLC. Will go back often.
Very very nice
Everything was really good. The staff, all staff, were very friendly. The course was lush. The greens rolled true and fast. The range is nice. The "turn and burn" burger was great. A little dissapponited the marshal didn't speed up an unbelievely slow twosome in front of us, but they disappeared after two holes st the turn. I could play this course all the time.
Fast greens
Love this course, the layout is absolutely beautiful. The greens are still aerated but they should be top shape in a few weeks. Greens were EXTREMELY fast, easy to 3 even 4 putt. Nice course, will definitely be back!
Great course for the money
Got a fire sale price and would come back again with special deal. Good practice facility to warm up. Back nine was more fun and challenging. Greens were in great shape. Took about 5hrs on Saturday afternoon.
Good location...poor course / facility quality
TCA is in a prime location in Alpharetta which is a big plus considering most public courses in ATL take a while to reach. Because of this the course is consisently full and popular with the metro Atlanta public golfers.
Unfortunatley, that is really where the positives stop. Compared to other courses of same price range this course is underwhelming. The course, facilities, maintenance conditions and clubhouse are tired, lazily tended and underinvested. Greens have many unrepaired marks, bunkers were not raked, burn spots on fairways, tee boxes chewed up, carts are old and broken and the scorecards were photocopies. As it stands, this would be a good $30 course. If management invested more money it could be great.
cobrahead
it was an average course would not pay more than $30 to play. the golf carts remind me of a hay wagon no suspension which was bad because a cart path is very rough
Nice holes
Good variety of hole lay out. I used most every club in my bag at least once. Very good condition except for a few bare spots, but typically not in high traffic playing areas. I think a scatter type entrance and exit on & off the fairway would be better than their gate idea, to eliminating some of those spots.
SLOW
I had the first tee time of the day and I was trying to fit in a quick 18 before week. Tee'd off in the near dark 6:20 but then they put two groups ahead of me and by 7:00 I played only two holes...
I quit at this point..I can play this slow on a Sunday.
I did complain to the proshop and they offered a "next round on us" coupon but to be honest, I am not going back so it was nothing of value to me.
Almost there
The greens were about a week, maybe two from being perfect. You could tell they had been punched about 2-3 weeks earlier.
This is a short course but you must be accurate. OB is tight on almost every hole.
I like the overall layout of the course. When the greens are 100% this is a great course.
3 hr 10 min Wednesday afternoon round
We played the course in 3 hrs and 10 minutes and took our time. I am sure this is not normal but pace of play here is usually decent. The tee boxes are getting beat up a bit and should probably be enlarged. The greens had been aerated three weeks ago but were smooth and when you saw a break it broken accordingly. Overall the course is in good shape and the greens will be back to normal in a week or two.
worth it
Great layout, great conditions, a fun course! Worth the price and availability of tee times was excellent. Nice elevations and dog legs, greens were avg speed.
