Nice Day
Enjoyed the course - wish a couple more par 5s could make it par 72.
Staff was great. Starter and ranger were helpful.
Hadn’t played here in 8 years. Plan to play again much sooner. :-)
probably won't play here again
The good: greens in good shape, enjoyable layout, fairways and bunkers in good shape.
The bad; all grass except for fairways and greens is Bermuda which is 3"+ tall. If your ball rolls off the fairway at all, especially on drives, good luck finding your ball. Everyone in the foursome lost 6-10 balls within a step or two of the fairways and greens because the rough was allowed to grow too tall and thus you must be standing direcly over the ball to see it.
Very frustrating to lose balls that on almost every other golf course would be easy to see/find.
Until they do a better job of keeping the rough grass cut low enough not to 'swallow' balls, I won't be back
Nice layout.
Greens had a lot of ball marks but bent greens so that’s somewhat normal.
Enjoyable experience
Course is playable. Backside is a little more challenging. Greens are pretty good but need a little work. Friendly and helpful staff.
Steady constant
River Pines is a great course with a decent layout. There are some holes where you'll have to layup to stay out of trouble and some easier ones where you can let it fly. Good mix of holes to challenge your game. Greens are usually soft so you'll encounter a lot of pitch marks
Great course
Great layout with some challenging holes.
Only downfall are the tee boxes are rough. Likely due to a lot of sun light, causing them to be super hard
Great Track
Been many years since I’ve played this course, but I always love the layout. You definitely need local knowledge, as there are many blind shots that you have to know what is on the other side.
Took a chance and tied it up on July 4, but shockingly the course was not backed up.
My only complaint would be the starters never said a word about repairing ball marks on the green. Once you get to the green and the following 17, it’s overly obvious that people go brain dead regarding repairing ball marks. It was pretty bad.
As I always do, I repair my ball mark, along with many others, as I have time.
Too expensive for the course
Too many quirky holes where you could tell the architect said “how in the heck am I going to fit 18 holes here?!?” The greens and fairways were in decent shape but the tee boxes were very poor. For $65 on a Wednesday, I would expect a better course. I should’ve paid $10 more for a better track.
Ok but played better
Greens was lumpy and covered with sand. Very crowded and SLOW!!!
Pace of play
Expect 5 hour rounds no matter what time or what day.
