PrairieView Golf Club
About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

Best course west of the Chicago
This course is amazing condition. I would compare the landscape and greens to Cantigny - it is worth every penny and the reply cost is extremely reasonable. I will be back. Worth the drive and time. Food was excellent as well.
AKI
We could enjoy very much this beautiful course with reasonable price. Thank you for Prairie View and Golf Now.
Great course
Course has an awesome design and maintained very well! The golf cart amenities are top notch!
Good course
Great course, good layout, greens need a little work still. Think the course is under new management and they have done alot already!
Beyond Expectations
This place is amazing especially as it is available to the golfing public. A course of this quality is usually a country club.
Two places to relax before and after golf, elevation changes, adequate bunkers with limited forced carries add up to a great experience.
The short game practice area could not be better. Driving range is a bit limited.
Since it was our first time there we could have use some better guidance to the next hole.
Pace of play not that great
Need a golf course ranger to make a traffic control. Had to wait and play throughout the course. Sometimes two groups ahead of me waiting their tee offs, not good for a premier public golf couse like Preivew.
Beautiful day beautiful course
On Monday, there was terrible storms, I believe it was even considered a tornado in that area. There were still powerlines down, even one blocking the road that leads to the main entrance of the course. There was a lot of damage still in town with lots and lots of trees down. When we went into the clubhouse, there was a lot of stuff being restocked because of the power outage, but the staff immediately stopped what they were doing to help us and service us with what we needed. A lot of props to Michelle. She was amazing. We quickly got checked in and given our carts which were wiped down, scorecards ready, and tees in place. Knowing the damage of the surrounding areas and the town, I did not hold much hope for the condition of the course, but to my surprise, the course was beautiful. There wasn’t even evidence that a storm had gone through there. There were only two holes that were cartpath only and even those two holes were in great condition. Greens were in great condition and the corset itself was good to play on. If I had a complaint, and believe me this is not a complaint considering what that area had gone through in the past couple days , there was no food, which was disappointing because the food at Prairie fire is delicious. Even the food that comes out of the clubhouse is very good. We have third annual golf outing on the 27th of this month there and the staff and the course always exceeds our expectations and I look forward to golfing on the 27th, I will recommend this to anyone looking to play an almost PGA course in this area. Thank you again to the staff of Prairie view . You guys were amazing. You guys were hustling to put everything back together and still took the time to make sure that our visit and our golf was good , thank you! If your looking for a great day of golf at a beautiful course Prairie View is the place to go!
Prairie View
We picked this course last year because of location. Same driving time for 4 players from different cities. Now we play at Prairie View because we love the course. Well maintained, interesting features, nice carts, very competitive price, great practice greens with traps and all the amenities.
great course bunkers need a lot of work no sand some big rocks in traps not good
No Markers to know where the next Tee was at
It was a nice course. Not one of my Favorites. Do not play it that often but when I do it would be nice to have markers pointing you to the next Tee. Seems like they expect that you will know where the next Tee is located. You never know until you can find the number hole on the one marker. The Pace of play was slow and pushy though. Slow people in front with hasty people behind. felt squeezed in. Wish they could book with a little time of room between tee times. maybe. Otherwise it is an average course with good carts and ball and club washers on the carts. Hot day, and no water left in coolers. Maybe hard to find staff these days.
Wish I lived in Byron
Prairie View is an AWESOME TRACK. Course is incredibly challenging, beautiful and scoreable if you’re hitting close to where you’re looking. Greens fast, true and receptive to good shots. Bunkers were playable, some could use a few more grains of sand. A lot of elevated tees and greens which made for some beautiful holes!
Course has Driving Range and a “Top Golf” area for lunch and libations. Very nice chipping and putting area to warm up. PV is worth the drive to Byron.
