About
Owned and operated by the Byron Forest Preserve District, Prairieview Golf Course sits on a scenic stretch of land that overlooks the Rock River. The layout will test different skills with plenty of variety, offering both open, links-style holes and tight, tree-lined holes. The design takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating the varying elevations into the large and undulating greens. The breaks can make the greens hard to read and they're made even more challenging by more than 60 bunkers strategically places along the borders. There are also water hazards in the form of ponds and a meandering stream that come into play on five holes. In addition to the course, there is also a 15-acre practice facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with two bunkers.

great course bunkers need a lot of work no sand some big rocks in traps not good
No Markers to know where the next Tee was at
It was a nice course. Not one of my Favorites. Do not play it that often but when I do it would be nice to have markers pointing you to the next Tee. Seems like they expect that you will know where the next Tee is located. You never know until you can find the number hole on the one marker. The Pace of play was slow and pushy though. Slow people in front with hasty people behind. felt squeezed in. Wish they could book with a little time of room between tee times. maybe. Otherwise it is an average course with good carts and ball and club washers on the carts. Hot day, and no water left in coolers. Maybe hard to find staff these days.
Wish I lived in Byron
Prairie View is an AWESOME TRACK. Course is incredibly challenging, beautiful and scoreable if you’re hitting close to where you’re looking. Greens fast, true and receptive to good shots. Bunkers were playable, some could use a few more grains of sand. A lot of elevated tees and greens which made for some beautiful holes!
Course has Driving Range and a “Top Golf” area for lunch and libations. Very nice chipping and putting area to warm up. PV is worth the drive to Byron.
Always excellent
Played on a 96 degree day. The course was in very nice shape and of course not too crowded. Staff made several above and beyond normal amenities including free bags of ice for beverages that were transported and ice water at the drink stations.
Great course and staff but play was slow
We enjoy this layout and the staff is friendly, but on this Sunday 11:00 round, play was very slow. And no assistance by a course marshall to speed up the group in front with more than two holes open ahead of them. We'll be back for the price, conditions and amenities at this course, but will stick to tee times that aren't likely to result in a five-hour round.

PrairieView is one of my favorites to play each year, a little bit of a drive, but most definitely worth it! Course is in excellent condition, pace of play was great, and the value is very good!
Great course!
This is a great course. Very well maintained and has a very nice driving range. Each hole offered it’s own challenges. You definitely have to reach into your bag for this course. Have fun.
Crowded
Prairie View is a fine course, but I was there on a nice day during the final week of their season and it was jammed. Almost 2 1/2 hours for the front 9 so I gave up at that point. Understandably, I suppose, the grill was offering only hot dogs and candy. I do look forward to playing there next year.
My 60th birthday
Unfortunately one of the members of our forsome had no golf etiquette whatsoever and surely does not belong on a course of this skill level. I have played golf since I was 5 years old I have been as low as a 1.7 handicap and have never experienced such a rude person .

The course has great features
I have played Prairie view several times and I think it’s a great course and layout. Great bar and restaurant.
