Course was great but pace of play was TERRIBLE
We were a threesome...had a group of 5 in front of us THAT TOOK THEIR SWEET TIME. Immediately behind us we had a 5 then a group of 6. LOTS of waiting. Saw a Marshall but don't think he did anything since I think these were all regulars.
Greens were great again!
2 weeks ago, the greens were terrible with uneven surfaces due to what seemed like weeds/different grasses. I think maybe they didn’t mow that day and/or sprayed recently and the different grasses and lengths were obvious. This place is an awesome budget friendly golf course with very easy and very difficult holes. The conditions of the greens haven’t been consistent over the summer.. The greens last time were horrible and in my review I said so. I played again on the 18th and couldn’t believe how great the greens were! They definitely mowed them, any weeds were not obvious at all and besides the ball marks, there were no excuses for a missed putt! I also played by myself and had to keep up with 2 twosome’s in front of me that were flying! I played in under 3.5 hours and have never played that fast before! I just got a new putter and LOVED having a great putting surface! I don’t really care about course conditions in general and will happily move my ball to get a decent lie, but I like a good putting surface! Can’t wait to get back!
Fun Time
Played 18 pace was no rush, course was in good shape. Enjoyed it very much.
Not looking good
I have played at Woodland Hills for many years. At one point I even held a membership here. The course is well maintained but the staff and scheduling is and has been a huge issue. This course used to not be as busy. Now they stack way to many people at too short of intervals. Instead of teeing in 10 minute increments like most courses they do 5 minutes. That coupled with the newfound popularity of this course and it’s overall layout slows (teeboxes behind greens) the pace so much that it now makes it virtually unplayable. The pace of play is painfully slow and you are constantly hitting up onto the group ahead of you. Then at some point the course marshal will tell you that you are off pace by some arbitrary number of minutes. Well no kidding you stacked a twosome behind a foursome and then won’t allow the twosome play through. I would not recommend this course and will certainly not be returning back which is sad to say because it really used to be great.
Lost their greens
Great little golf course and the greens were sweet back in February. It became one of our favorites til spring and summer. They keep punching holes in the greens and while the watering keeps them from getting burnt, the weeds have taken over…….they are horrendous! It would be beneficial if the guy hand watering the greens went in the opposite direction of the golfers. Seemed like every green, the guy was up there with the hose………I’d say at least 7+ times. Such a bummer as the greens were so good back in February. Still a great course for the price point! Practice areas and the range are great, but you have to have a tee time or be a member to utilize them.
Great deal!
For the money you won’t find a better course in metro Atlanta. Great layout, challenging but accessible. Beautiful scenery and welcoming staff. My son and I tried to play a few weeks ago and got rained out on the 6th hole and got a rain check for a full 18. High-class operation.
