Fall at Redtail
Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. Roughs and some fairways were dry. Rangers and snack bar people were extremely friendly. GPS on carts was very helpful especially on blind approach to the green holes. Hot but a great outing.
Very good course.
Very good course. They had a outing and it slowed the pace.
Mjhoppet
This course is really in need of some serious maintenance. The greens were in horrible shape tons of unrepaired ball marks. The sand traps were very inconsistent. The tee boxes were so hard you couldn't hardly push it in without breaking it. And the 2nd hole is really unplayable not because of their doing but it still made for a disappointing day.
Good job
We enjoyed our play at Red Tail. It wasn't busy at all and we played in 3 1/2 hrs.
Good deal for a good course. Sand in traps was my hubbies only complaint !
Retail review
Beautiful day, nice people, nice layout, slow play.
Almost shot the course. Feeling good about my next visit.
Phenomenal Given Recent Storm!!
The area was hit very hard with monumental storms and flooding just a week before playing and even so, the course was in great shape. One of the long par 5's was flooded and eroded the fairway grass thus the hole was turned into a neat little par 3 teeing off from the end of the fairway. The rest of the course was in awesome shape as always and the price can't be beat given the quality of staff and course. I'm going to play here as much as possible in the fall!
Very Nice Course - Good Value
We just played here for the first time today, on what can only be described as A Perfect Summer Day. For a residential course Red Tail is very good. The houses are there, but they do not encroach on any of the holes at all. The layout through the wetlands and marshes is real nice - very pleasing to the eyes. Tees, fairways and greens are in very good condition -(except for a couple of each, but for obvious reasons that are being worked on.) Every hole has multiple, large, very well maintained teeing grounds - can not say boxes because they are so large and of various shapes (an excellent design touch in my opinion - so many choices for the tee block placement lets the ground heal.) Fairways are in very good condition too, and the rough was mown to proper heights. Greens in real good condition, (maybe a few too many un-repaired ball marks --- which is our (the patrons) problem = Please Repair Your Ball Marks! It helps everybody, including you!)
As stated it was a perfect day, hence groups on every hole, but pace of play was right on time.
Only downside is the condition and type of sand in the many large sand traps, which includes many large rocks. Rocks, not pebbles! Positive side to this was the multiple sand trap raking tractors we saw on the course today. Maybe they are trying to address this issue.
All in all a very nice course layout and fine conditioning.
Great Course Condition
With all the rain that has been coming through our area; only one hole was really effected.
I play this course 5-7 times a year & my 13 year old daughter has taken lessons there for 3 years.
Chris N & his staff are always accommodating & friendly!!
Interesting course
Liked the course layout shot an 80 from the gold tees 2nd hole was used as a par 3 due to the flooding these past weeks. Lots of 4 somes in front of me pace of play was kinda slow "was like the korean open" they could of moved a little faster almost took 5 hours to play 18 holes. Nice course 16th hole was the nicest gave me that TPC kinda feel.
