OK course
Nice course layout, course was in very good shape. The carts are very old. The drinks are rather pricy.
Green Garden Gold
We knew it would be very wet ( huge storm a couple days ago , so that was no issue. Staff as always was GREAT. Golf in Chicagoland in November , awesome
great track
This is a course that is not well-known. This track especially on the gold course is fantastic. Bring your A game because there are challenges at every corner.
This course has two 18-hole courses a nine-hole course and a fantastic practice facility.
If you're in the Chicagoland area make a point to get out here.
Much improved since last time; nice course
I was pleasantly surprised to see how much this course has improved over my last visit which was over a year ago. The fairways were actually quite nice - which was the biggest problem before. The greens were a touch on the soft side, and could benefit from being firmed up for a truer roll. Other than that this was a good round on a nice course. The layout of the Gold course offers some nice challenges and interesting shot choices. The course has also added "yellow" (senior) tees to their mix, so now you have a choice of 5 tees. At 5700+ yards, this distance is fair for us more elderly and distance-challenged folk. The "white" tees are a big step up at 6300+ yards. Quite truthfully, I'd rather see something in between at about 5900-6000 yards - a couple of the par 4's were just too short, even for seniors. Will definitely return again and will have even higher expectations next time (firmer, truer greens maybe?). Recommended!
Could Be Better
It was a Saturday and the course was naturally crowded. Early Fall and some leaves are falling which made it difficult to find balls in the rough. We learned early, DO NOT TRUST YARDAGE MARKERS! They are as much as thirty yards off. They had blue 200 markers at the 150. Bring a laser. Greens were a bit bumpy. Marshalls could have done a better job of moving some drunks along or off the course. Overall a nice setup but it could be better.
What happened?
I play here quite often be ause it's convenient and close to home. Went out last Sunday and it took 2 hours to play 5 holes. I was a twosome and there was a foursome, and two threesomes in front of me. They were crawling. Slow play does not usually bother me but this was extreme. We ended up having to skip two holes to get in front. My problem is hat there was no ranger out there monitoring it. The cost of the course is a little high for the co diction the course was in. Extremely inconsistent greens. Some are cut long some are cut short. Some are super bumpy and others smooth. The tee boxes are horrific and the fairways leave something to be desired. This is a $35 course right now. I won't be back for a long time.
Good budget course
This course if good for average golfers who just want to go out and strike the ball. The course would be great if they put a little money into it but it looks like they are running on low budget. Crabgrass on a few tee boxes not very pleasing but it is a good budget course.
Labor Day Golf
Great bargain for a holiday. Starter was rude and got into an argument with group ahead of ours.
Stay Away
I live 10 minutes from this course and in the past have enjoyed playing this course several times during the year. After a bout with surgery 8/21/16 was my first round of the year and was able to get a tee time on Sunday for the Gold Course. The last time I played was September 2015 and the conditioning was improving through out 2015. So I thought this was a good place to start for my 2016 golf season.
WAS I WRONG! I have never seen a course for the $53 we paid in such BAD shape. It was like the did not put a once of water on this course the whole year. The only reason the course was green was due to the recent rains we received. Half of the fairways were dead. The tee boxes were all chewed up and mostly crab grass. Greens were yellow and diseased . I mean a compete mess.
Seek to spend you hard earned dollars elsewhere.
9 holes played
We only had a chance to play 9 holes due to bad weather conditions! Would have liked to finish all 18! Staff was friendly. Course layout was a little difficult to follow but nice I would play again here and book tee time through golf now again.
Never again!
This course is WAY OVER PRICED! The conditions are absolutely horrible. The worst course i have ever played on... wanted my money back!
Not work the play
Was over 90 degrees out and made a big deal about me being water on the course. They said cart girl would be out didn't see her until 11 hole. Course was in bad shape I get the weather hasn't been best but you can water it once in awhile. Would never go back not worth it many other courses better and cheaper.
Course open friendly
Some very dry area of fairways. Lot of dead spots. Over all nice place . To be fair no rain for sometime.
This course has nice a nice layout
I thought the course was good for only paying $18. I thought the course had a nice layout. The course was very dry and looked like it wasn't watered for a while that didn't help playing conditions very much.
Greens
The greens have improved dramatically, since the end of last year.. No more dirt greens they have been fully repaired. I hope management @ GGCC has figured it out and have learned to address these issues sooner than later, if they do they will have more interested customers!
Great Course
I really enjoyed my round of golf at Green Gardens. Just a great day and experience at this course.
Cart Only Course
Great deal on Golf now, course was in good shape overall. Rough was a little long making finding errant tee shots hard. Greens were a little bumpy but not terrible. The reason for the title is the distance between many holes was the distance on a long par 5 hole so without a cart you will travel some millage.
I will play again when another great deal arises.
Link style
Great course in the south suburbs
Decent Course for $35 as long as you know what you're getting.
I've played Green Garden probably 100 times now. I used to play it a ton as a teenager and before they added the Driving Range, Dome & Emerald course.
Found an early round on GolfNow for $35 so decided to venture back out here as I play Green Garden maybe once a year a most now.
I couldn't see paying more than $35 for this course (Gold or Blue) as they simply don't take good care of the courses. The tee boxes were chewed up with weeds, fairways are crispy & not well watered and the greens (especially the front on Gold) had what I believe was some type of disease as it looked like hundreds of unrepaired ball marks all over. It made putting a challenge, obviously.
The halfway house only offers hot dogs (which weren't ready when we came through) and chips.
The course layout is fairly challenging with a decent amount of water & sand. Sand traps do have a good amount of sand so not an issue should you find yourself in a bunker during a round.
Pace of play was good. I believe they're struggling to get groups out to Green Garden. For $35, it's not a bad course so long as you realize the course isn't a 5 star track.
