Great Course
I really enjoyed my round of golf at Green Gardens. Just a great day and experience at this course.
Cart Only Course
Great deal on Golf now, course was in good shape overall. Rough was a little long making finding errant tee shots hard. Greens were a little bumpy but not terrible. The reason for the title is the distance between many holes was the distance on a long par 5 hole so without a cart you will travel some millage.
I will play again when another great deal arises.
Link style
Great course in the south suburbs
Decent Course for $35 as long as you know what you're getting.
I've played Green Garden probably 100 times now. I used to play it a ton as a teenager and before they added the Driving Range, Dome & Emerald course.
Found an early round on GolfNow for $35 so decided to venture back out here as I play Green Garden maybe once a year a most now.
I couldn't see paying more than $35 for this course (Gold or Blue) as they simply don't take good care of the courses. The tee boxes were chewed up with weeds, fairways are crispy & not well watered and the greens (especially the front on Gold) had what I believe was some type of disease as it looked like hundreds of unrepaired ball marks all over. It made putting a challenge, obviously.
The halfway house only offers hot dogs (which weren't ready when we came through) and chips.
The course layout is fairly challenging with a decent amount of water & sand. Sand traps do have a good amount of sand so not an issue should you find yourself in a bunker during a round.
Pace of play was good. I believe they're struggling to get groups out to Green Garden. For $35, it's not a bad course so long as you realize the course isn't a 5 star track.
Gold Course
Good Course some challenging holes. Overall a good experience.
Greens
The greens need work some kind of disease has deteriorated them, they had an issue that started at the end of last year and to this day the greens are the same or worse in some cases.. This course has been great for years but this problem needs to be addressed.
needs work
The putting greens were in bad shape lots of bare divot marks and all of the fairways filled with weeds couldn't tell the weeds from the golfball.
Surprisingly not in good condition!!!
The greens on most holes were a mess. Lost 4 balls in the rough next to the fairway because way too many dandelions. One green looked like a tee box. The nice thing about Green Garden is the layout and the potential to easily be a 5 star course again.
Green Gardens, Frankfort IL
It was an awesome deal !!
Great challenge
Great course for the money and very challenging.
Both courses (gold and blue) nice.
Shot shaping course
I love the way it challenged your choice of hitting it straight, fade or draw all of the holes.
Well worth the money and the drive.
Nice challenging course, a number of the holes had difficult layouts and water frequently came into play. A few greens and tee boxes had some distress but even with the long drive I'll be back!
Blue is easier of the two 18 hole course
Some of the tee boxes are getting chewed up. Sand/dirt/seed mixture would be helpful
Green gardens experience
The course was great staff friendly and professional food was delicious answered all of our questions would be my number one course in sw suburbs
Fun Day with ACE on #16
We got a great rate, the course moved us up an extra 1.5 hours since rain was on the way! We played the front 9 at a decent pace, then stopped in the halfway house to wait out the rain! We headed for the back 9 as rain ended! Li and behold, on the 16th tee, our guy Jim, one of two leftys incl me, hit a sweet shot over the tall tree toward the right edge of the green! I said "that has a chance", meaning to get "on the green"! Jim and one other guy said it seemed to bounce and disappear, as if IN the hole! As we drove up, Jim looked in the hole, and (whoomp), "there it was"!!! After the round we asked if he can buy the flagstick! The young lady asked and they said no! Eaglewood sold it to me on my ace in 2004 for $20-I'm now speaking with Rick at the course who is still trying on our behalf! We will know more soon I guess!!! What a crazy day, incl a one-hour rain delay! Jim's first "ace" and first "eagle", by the way! Now we are hoping GG's Rick comes thru for us to get us the flag and/or flagstick from Jim's historic 189-yd ACE!!!
Pleasant course to play - trees can be a challenge
Green Garden Gold course is an enjoyable course to play with some forgiveness, but also some blind spots in the course layout that can cost strokes, if you are unfamiliar with it. Fairways and greens all in great condition. Tee areas were a bit soft and uneven on some holes, likely due to heavy play and rains. The grss off the fairways was deep enough to hunt for balls for awhile. The overall course though was still above average. I would definitely recommend the course.
Very nice
Greens were slow but in good shape. The fairways were in great shape.
Played the gold course.
Overall great course. Need more signs for next hole. It can get a bit confusing with the courses overlapping. Thoroughly enjoyed it. First time back since 2010. Course is in better shape now. Cart path need repair..
Making its way back
Green Gardens used to be a Gem, but got itself into pretty rough shape and I stopped playing there about 6 years ago. It had a great price and the tee time was right for me to play today, and the course is in really good shape. The greens where immaculate and played pretty tough. They are on their way back to being a gem in my book I will defiantly be back. Keep up the amazing progress Green Gardens
SLOW
we got moved from the gold course to the Blue course as the starter said it was backed up & would play slow-Well that was ok but we got stuck behind the slowest 4some ever to play 18 holes-actually it wasn't the 4some directly in front but in front of them-they backed the whole course up & we never saw a Marshall...other than that we all agreed it was a nice course & nice clubhouse-bar needs draft beer though!! We will go back again to play the gold course-next time we will wait for it though.....
