all alone.
We showed up for a Saturday noon tee time and the parking lot was almost empty. Pace of play was awesome. We had a foursome and the only other players we saw on the course was a single and a pair that came up behind us that we let play through. Great price and the course is in good shape. We are going back ASAP.
Serene & Peaceful Place.
This course is a personal favorite.
Suggestions for a rating of 5 ( Perfect) include:
1) Get the "members" to move the pace a bit.
2) Repair/maintain pot holes in cart path.
3) Lacks adequate yardage markers.
Nice Greens
If you don’t mind traveling down to Griffen this is s nice course especially if you get a Hot Deal. Greens are in great shape
Excellent Value
The course was running a special for less than $10 with a cart. I had both of my small children with me and they enjoyed the round as much as I did. My hats off to the staff for maintaining a friendly course that get s a good bit of traffic but maintains excellent pace of play.
Day good, course good, game bad
The weather was excellent, and the course was in pretty good shape except for a few rough spots on a couple of the greens. It's too bad my game wasn't as good as the course... but, that is normal. The course was not crowded, pace of play was pretty quick; 18 holes in about 2 1/2 hours.
Double D
Course in good shape but I prefer both fairways and rough a little shorter.
Nice Greens
The course has come back around. Greens are rolling and fairways have grass nicely cut . This course is worth the drive
Shoal Creek is a very nice local course to play.
Cart paths need repair. For the $, it's a great course.
Fun Course Challenging and Fair
Course is in good shape. Very wide open course with some well placed bunkers. Greens are very challenging. Overall course was in good shape and I will be returning.
Love the layout, love the price!
We played June 14th and the course was in good condition. Greens rolled true, fairways are filling in and there was sand in the bunkers. We will be back.
shoal creek
I played at 3 pm on a Tuesday. There was only one other group I saw on the course. The greens were in good condition, fairway were not as nice. The overall conditions are what you would expect for a public or semi-private course. The staff is friendly and the place is laid back. There is evidence that the course is being maintained. I have played here several times and will go back again. It is a good value.
Such potential, but overall disappointing
Shoal Creek is one of those courses that could be so great, but after a round just leaves you scratching your head. They layout is specatacular, but the condition is just not that great. A few years back they spent good money putting champion Bermuda greens in, to only not care for them. Your putts bounce and wiggle, leaving you hitting and hoping that you catch the right bounce and your ball falls in the hole. My group hit so many great putts that somehow managed not to find the hole. One member of our foursome shot a 73, but could have easily been in the 60's had the greens roled true. I felt for him because he was playing so well, and the greens robbed him of his best round ever.
The layout challenges you and requires shot shaping and thought through every shot. The par threes aren't overly challenging and are a welcome breather. The par 5's are ALL great holes and the 4's are an awesome variety. I am a green snob, so the greens just ruin this course for me. It's only $22 to play, so that makes playing this overall disappointment able to be "stomached."' However when I'm invited here I usually take time to consider if I really wanna waste my time. With such great courses like Crystal Lake and Eagle Brooke not much further away, and not much more expensive, this is a tough play for me personally.
Shoal Creek
The course is very fair and has challenging greens. The price is great but the pace of play was horrible; it took almost 3 hours to play the front 9 holes. There were kids in the group in front of us running around the course and playing on the greens. This is the third time I've been subjected to extremely slow play here, a marshal would be nice.
In Griffin..
The course is an old country club. I would say it's prime was pre-millennium. Tee boxes are pretty rough on a couple holes, even from the boxes less played. Fairways tend to be okay for the most part but you are often left with thin lies. Greens are the best part of the course. They roll fast and can be tough to putt on. There are some different types of grass trying to grow into the greens though, which could be bad if it doesn't get taken care of this year. They did reshape the bunkers recently so they look sharp. Overall it's a good deal and honestly a pretty solid layout.
