City Club Marietta, hole 8 Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 12/06/2019
Pace of Play and Staff unfriendliness
I only played 8 holes due to the poor place of play and flying golf balls from other fairways without anyone yelling “fore”. There was no Marshall around. The staff at the course were very unfriendly. The Fairway were like cow pastures, but the greens were fair. It will be a while before, I play that course again.
Word of warning
First, let me say that this sort of course has its place. It provides a more than adequate place for someone to experience the game of golf at a very reasonable price. However, that said, I personally won't be rushing back here.
I played here in a Charity event and found the course to be deficient in a number of areas - sparse grass on the tee boxes, very patchy fairways with plenty of weeds and bumpy greens. The course was also very short. If fear a lot of golfers coming here for the first time might leave disappointed. However, for the occasional and/or budget conscious golfer, The City Club of Marietta might well satisfy their needs.
Thank you for coming out and supporting Temple Kol Emeth in their fundraising efforts even though the weather was not exactly cooperative. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the course. As the Bermuda grass has not come out of dormancy completely, we are not at our peak condition just yet. We are expecting some warmer weather and should be back in great condition within a few weeks. We would love the opportunity to change your mind about City Club Marietta.
Thank you for playing City Club, we look forward to seeing you again!
Fun course, needs some upkeep
The course is fun and challenging with some water and rolling hills and dog legs. The greens were in decent shape for this time of year but the speed was inconsistent green to green. One of the tee boxes was nothing but sand and most of the tees needed work. There is a lot of patchy grass spots in and off the fairway, but again it is only mid April. The practice tees are mats and I think if you charge what this course does, you should have grass practice tees.
Thank you for playing City Club Marietta, we appreciate the feedback. We had some tee boxes that did not fare well through the winter, but we will be re-sodding those tees over the next week or two to speed the recovery process. Once the nighttime temperatures get into the mid-60's, the Bermuda grass will start to grow again. At that point the fairways will look a lot better and we will be able to open the grass tees on the driving range. If we were to open the grass tees now, they would not be able to recover and we would have poor conditions throughout the summer. Thank you again for visiting us and we hope to see you again soon.
great course
I LOVE THIS COURSE, PRICE IS A LITTLE STEP
FOR A PRSON THAT IS NOT A SENIOR.
Friendly staff. Good price. Need Marshall
Staff was extremely nice. Good value. Only criticism was a group in front of us was holding us up and also hiding up the 3 groups behind us. No Marshall or employee was out to help move them along.
Good Round on a Cool Day
We had a wonderful day of golf. The course was in decent shape, even though the greens had recently been staked. Actually, I was glad to see that they were taking care of the green and I look forward to playing them when they grow out. Overall, a fun time.
Thank you for playing City Club. The greens should heal nicely once we get some warmer temperatures and the Bermuda grass starts to grow again. We are looking forward to a great spring and summer. We hope to see you again soon!
Thank you for playing City Club!
Good course
With the exception of the green, the course provides a challenging time in order to keep focus on your game. Otherwise, you can have a run away game easily
Thank you for playing City Club and the kind words. We just aerified the greens last week, so they should be back in great condition within the next few weeks.
Pace and care
This mgt has never felt that pace of play is important. I realize I played after lunch on friday but we teed off at 1:20 and did not turn until 4:00. The course itself is becoming a moon crater. They show the same faith in sand bottles they do for cousre ambassadors. If you have ever played the course you know theree are multiple blind shots and the cart person nor the starter made any effort to get our cart gps functioning so we endured the 2hrs and 40 minutes blind to boot. They just DO NOT CARE. i WILL NOT GO BACK IF THEY PAID ME 25 DOLLARS
We are certainly sorry that you did not enjoy your round the other day. The course is still recovering from a wet winter and aerification last week, but we should see positive results once we get some temperatures that will allow the grass to start growing again. I can assure you that pace of play is a major concern of our entire team here at City Club. In fact, pace of play is one of the main reasons we have invested in the GPS system as it allows us to monitor play from both the course and the golf shop. Using this system, I was able to research your round. You actually left the first tee at 1:23PM and came off the ninth green at 3:31PM for a turn time of 2:08. You then exited the eighteenth green at 5:30PM for a round time of 4:07, well within the time par. I apologize for the GPS not being turned on when you started, with the new system we are still working out procedures. If you experience any problems in the future, just call the Golf Shop and we will be happy to assist you. Once again, we are sorry for any inconvenience and we look forward to the opportunity to provide you with a better experience.
Tee boxes on the front 9 were mud ,hardly no grass
The course has not been maintained properly. Fairways and tee boxes are not in good condition.
We are very sorry that you had a less than desirable experience with us. It has been a cold, wet winter, but once the weather turns and the grass can start growing again, the course will be in great shape. We look forward to seeing you again this Spring.
Decent experience
Not a bad experience but the course was crowded. We finished nearly 45 minutes late. There was a lot of waiting.
Thank you for playing City Club Marietta. We are sorry you got held up. We had a very busy day and cart path only does tend to slow things down a bit when we have a full course. We are looking forward to some drier weather and we hope to see you again soon.
Not as good as in the past.
Let me start by saying that I have played this course over 100 times based on convenience. I have to say that as of lately the conditions are extremely poor for the price. They got these new carts that are glitchy as heck and if it drizzles a bit you can count on cart path only. Not my favorite anymore.
We are definitely disappointed that you feel this way. It has been a long, wet winter (we have had over 9 inches of rain just this month) but the course should be coming back from dormancy soon. As with any new technology, there are always a few bugs to work out in the beginning. We are in contact with Yamaha and they have been working with us to get the system refined. We look forward to seeing you again and the opportunity to change your mind.
Nice tight course
This course is growing on me. I thin I they charge more than it is worth, but if you can get a deal on golf now, it is worth that rate. I won't pay more than $32.00.
They should remove the cart fee for your birthday too.
Skip the practice range.
the only thing I do not like about the course is the practice range mats
it gives you a false sense of play like the bounce.
Other then that course is in great shape. Friendly staff as well. kudos to the staff.
marshall's should patrol the course a little more.
had a great time and always enjoy playing there.
A 6 hour round is inexcusable. Marshal did nothing about it.
Mr. Halsey,
I am sorry you had a less than ideal experience with us on Black Friday. We were extremely busy, as we are every year on that day. We are always concerned about pace of play and word of a six hour round definitely warranted some investigation. I checked the GPS records and your cart left the first tee at 11:37AM and came off the 18th green at 4:39PM for a round time of 5 hours and 2 minutes. I can also assure you that the marshal was doing everything possible to keep groups moving, but there was not any one group holding up the course, on such busy days the pace just naturally tends to slow. We are approaching a slower time of year when the course will not be as crowded and pace of play should not be an issue for you. We look forward to seeing you again.
We are sorry that you had a less than desirable experience. The course is now in great shape and we have added a dedicated staff member to marshal on busy days. We look forward to the opportunity to provide a great experience on your next visit.
