Cotton Fields Golf Club, The

I'm reluctant to be negative because I know the course needs patrons to survive; but it needs someone to take over the course management. I've played this course for years and you never know what you'll get. The course conditions are like a roller coaster and if the county wants it to continue, they need to invest real money. The bones of a good course are there and could be a draw for tourism; but it needs to be maintained better. Unless conditions improve, I can find course's not too far away in better condition for no more money.

The course is in decent shape. A few greens are bald.

By the end of the summer hopefully the greens will have grown back in the course will be in great shape. The fairways are in great condition.

I was pleasantly surprised with this course especially for early March. The greens were some of the best I've ever played. Very true. Course has water near several holes - just enough to challenge without being overwhelming. I will definitely play this course again when I am in Georgia. . Would love to play it in the spring or early summer when fairways are full and green. Just a very nice beautiful place to play golf.

This course is a lot of fun and a great layout. You can tell they are putting in a lot of work to make it a good course. It’s not in great shape but it’s moving in the right direction.

I noticed agronomy team making major improvements (tree removal) on several holes. Lots of shade around tees and greens where it is necessary to improve sunlight and airflow. Very fun golf course and quality of condition - will be hard to beat the price $15! Praise to the Superintendent and his staff - they are making miracles on the course with limited resources.

The course is in average post winter condition. They are working on repairs to cart paths. Sand traps could use some more sand in them. Course offers a few challenging holes. Go and check it out.

I purchased the tee time via GolfNow and had a 12:33 tee time. I got to the first tee to be told by the starter that there was a tournament going on and that we would have to wait. Club house personnel didn't bother to advise hat there was a tournament going on. We finally started the round about 90 minutes later. he pace o play was horrible putting it mildly. Had to wait on every tee-box and after each shot; completely worn out by the 9th hole due to the pace of play. The staff was unwilling to give a rain check or any compensation to play the remainder 9 holes on a future date. I like this course but will probably not be going back due to lack of communication, pace of play and unwillingness to deal with the customers.

It was not a good day for golf as I too 4hrs to play 9 holes due to the course overbooking and mismanagement. Then after being told by the Marshall that we can get a rain check after 9 because the pace of play was so bad only to get in the clubhouse and be met with attitude and resistance about it. Going to take a minute for me and my group to get over this one. We normally hold one of our monthly tournaments there once or twice a year. But I think we will not be holding one there this year unless they make this right. I will be calling golf now on Monday to complain about this.

There’s only 2 words that describe this golf course and the title above says it all.

The course should close down until they can get it in decent enough shape to charge golfers to play on it. The fairways are harder than granite and the greens are garbage. The only thing consistent about the greens was the fact they had flag sticks. Speaking of the flag sticks, the course managers have no idea of pin placements. Several pin locations were not USGA regulation in terms of proximity to the fringe or near a severe slope. Quality shots were not rewarded and most disappointing of was the staff in the clubhouse. If I go back to this course, it will only be because I lost my memory due to an accident or died and came back in the afterlife as a goat.

I appreciate the fact that The Cotton fields Golf Club is so well attended year round. Very few Fall leaves in the fairway and greens, few signs of weather wear and then most other golfers seem to enjoy the challenging yet manageable course layout. "LoveThe Cotton fields".
