Bacon Park's greens were still recovering in August 2018, but they have plenty of interesting contours. This is the 15th. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 11/07/2018
Savannah Golf
This course was pleasant to play. From the live oaks dappled with spanish moss to the well placed hazards, I found this course to be on the easier side. The cart came with an iced cooler which came in handy. In the area I reccomend checking them out
Great local golf course
This course is improving and the greens are in good shape. Easy place to play for a fair price.
Past its peak.
Bacon Park was our choice because we decided to play on the spur of the moment and it was the only course we could find with openings.. The tees were a jumble of grasses and weeds and the greens were extremely rough and weedy. I know it's early in the year but this course appears to be a course that was once a nice course but has fallen into harder times due to other competition. Who knows till you get there!
A good challenge for any skilled golfer. I enjoyed my round with friends and co workers. Fair playing conditions. Staff was friendly and made you feel welcome, I will play another round soon.
Greens were terrible
The course was in bad shape all the way around. White tee boxes were barren. The red tee boxes were just plunked down in the middle of the fairway (not really tee boxes). The fairways were mediocre. The greens were terrible, not smooth had green growths all over - very hard to make putts when they bump bump bump across the green. The cart paths were rutted and bumpy. The GPS in the cart was nice. The staff was nice.

Really enjoyed this course excellent service and staff
Pretty Beat Up
Nice convenient location to Savannah, but this course has seen better days. Fairways were hard and the greens bumpy (from reading other reviews it sounds like they were aerated in the past few months). Has the potential to be a nice course, but needs work.
The layout is a bit odd in that most courses swing back by the clubhouse after 9 holes. Not this course, you don’t see the clubhouse until you finish all 18.
For a duffer or learner, might be a place to go, but for an experienced golfer, much to be desired..
Needs A LOT of work
Pretty terrible conditions. Course is worth about $20-25, but they charge twice that. Instead of hiring better/more greenskeeping staff, they decided to buy a fleet of GPS nanny carts that, due to the tight layout between green and next tee, force you to back up all the time cause they aren’t programmed correctly.
The greens were terrible. Recently aerated, but looks like if they had rolled them they could have been far less bumpy. Some greens have huge bare patches, and the speed from hole to hole was wildly inconsistent. If you want to charge that much money, the greens HAVE to be good. I can hit an iron off of a crummy fairway, but putting on bad greens is just annoying.
The staff are friendly, and I love the layout otherwise it would be a 1-star considering they charge residents $40. Pretty absurd. I can play courses in Hilton Head that are twice as nice for that price.
Do better, Bacon Park, or lower your rates if you want to continue being a crummy course. I might try again in 6 months, but this round left an awful taste in my mouth.
