Staff locked us in
After starting a round later in the afternoon yesterday, we finished around 8:30 (sunset is getting later). When we walked back to the parking lot (after walking the course), there were still several cars there of golfers that had not finished yet, but one of the staff members had locked the gate so that those of us that had just finished up could not leave. Fortunately, he came back later (albeit, very upset that we were seemingly inconveniencing him) to unlock the gate so we could leave the property.
It is baffling that an employee at a golf course would lock the gate, knowing that the several (5-10) cars that were still in the parking lot could not leave. I understand that they are trying to close and get out of there, but to be so inconsiderate as to lock your customers onto the property at a golf course, of all places, is astounding. If you really need to close, send someone out to get people off the course. We were not made aware that there was any closing time prior to darkness.
A separate issue is why is the golf course closing before the sun sets? The whole point of a public city course is that folks can go and play after work. Not good business!
2nd time is the charm
So if you look at my profile, I have written a previous review of this course that wasn't extremely favorable. I am not sure what changed in the few weeks that were between the rounds, but everything from the pace of play to course conditions was much improved. Notably, the greens were much better, and the grass was perfectly shaped to allow for amazing lies. Will definitely be back.
Great First Impression
I'm a novice golfer and this course was a joy to play. I never felt rushed (played in a foursome) and only let 1 group of 1 play through. Course was in fine condition. Only had trouble finding 1 tee (16th, I think). I'll definitely be back.
Great Little Course For The Money
Fox Creek is a great little par 62 course near Atlanta. If you are looking to work on your short irons and wedge game, give them a try. Course was a bit congested for the weekend but still was very playable. Tee boxes needed some work and most of the greens were in pretty good shape.
Its a public course...
So in all of my reviews, i try to be fair to the season, the weather, the day in which i play, as well as the fact that im an average golfer, not a die hard.
This course is a great course if you are a dad looking to teach his kids, or for somone who is inconsistent with there driver and wants to avoid 500 yard par 5s.
The big thing for today was pace of play. A ton of "Senior" players and kids. This left my group with considerable amounts of time between holes. We were backed up so much at hole 7 that I had time to drive back to the clubhouse, use the bathroom, buy beer and still had to wait when i returned.
This course is a ton of par 3 holes that i was able to reach with my 60 degree or sand wedge and that was not even a full swing.
The other holes, you could drive them relatively easy.
No real uphill shots, a ton of "downhill" play.
Greens are inconsistent in speed with tons of patchy areas and weeds. Not a ton of breaks and if there were, the greens were "grabby" and the ball was unpreditable. Bunkers were compacted and left you with relatively easy escape and a normal wedge shot.
I think if I have my kids with me, this is the course I would play. If i have my grandfather with me, this is a great course. Otherwise, even on a hot deal im not sure it was worth the money I paid.
Dial in your short game.
Not a bad little course. Short par 5 and 4's but mostly par 3's. Exactly what I was looking for to help me with my short game. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Also loved the course because I got a hole in one on #7. I live in Snellville and will definitely make the drive to play this course again.
