Hilldale Golf Club

The course is ore challenging than the scorecard indicates. Every club in the bag is used.

This wasn't my first time at Hilldale but I'm not sure I would come back often after the last round. As far as the course, the conditions were great. The greens were quick and rolled true just like they always do here. I'm a fan of the layout on most of the holes but not all, but that's just personal opinion so no big deal there. Hilldale gets 3 stars for my last round because the ranger was less than courteous and kept telling our group we had to keep pace, when in fact we were waiting on every single hole. It's difficult to move any faster without launching golf balls into the group ahead of us. When I told him we were waiting on every shot (which he should've been able to see when the group ahead of us is only 100 yards away), he rudely responded that he was telling everyone the same thing. How about pushing the group that is causing the hold up instead of being rude and pressuring those keeping pace?

The course was in great shape - pin placements were tough and challenging, loved it !!

This course is quite honestly a hidden gem. It's not overly long where you have to bomb a drive to get home in two but club selection from the tee is often a risk/reward opportunity...just as Robert Trent Jones St. had intended.

The greens are always in fine condition and for the most part break to the North (except #'s 7, 8 and 17)

I am fortunate enough to play here as a permanent time every Saturday morning.

With our wet Spring and early Summer, I was very surprised in course condition. Not what it has been historically. Dry hard fairways and dry hard greens. Hilldale always known for faster and truer greens. Some of the fringes were a bit burnt. Some of the water/drink buckets on course are gone vs. years past. The course is still very challenging and a very good test for the weekly golfer and a lot of frustration for the ocassional golfer. Bring your straight game and don't be afraid to hit iron or hybrid off the tee box. The new blacktop cart paths was a pleasant surprise. The cart gal and club house staff were very pleasant.

The golfnow price is still a good value, but, a bit of a bummer that it's not the same course used to be. Hopefully, I'm catching the course in between superintendents and next tee time will be better.

Clubhouse smelled like smoke! Pace of play was good....

After not playing the course for several years due to being overpriced, I went back with a Golf Now discount. The course has really grown up from 25+ years ago and is still as nice now as before just more challenging.

Excellent course for good golfers. Not for the faint of heart. The course is narrow and tree lined and water comes into play on 13 of the 18 holes. It's fair.... you just need to hit it straight and not in the water. If you're higher then a 13, well, it's going to be a long day. Great grill at the turn. Most excellent course overall, you'll like it!

Remember, keep pace. Don't spend a bunch of time looking for lost balls, they don't cost that much and you're not going on tour any time soon.

Played this mid morning on a Sunday. Friendly staff and nice pace of play. I played from the tips, about 6,500 yards. The par 5's are super fun due to their length. Greens and green side bunkers were all in good shape. I walked with a push cart, no problem. I recommend playing it and plan to be back this season.

This course isn't too long but does require accuracy as it has some tight fairways. The greens are slightly faster than normal too.

This course is very challenging. I like playing it, but have trouble putting up a decent score. The greens are usually lightning fast, but this time they were a ;little slower.

Decent course overall, disappointed that hole 5 was half dug up doing some kind of irrigation project. A much tougher course than i remembered especially the back 9. Hoping to play here again if they fix all their holes.

Well kept course and for the price it's hard to find many nicer.

Hilldale is one of the best courses around for the budget-friendly golfer.

The course was very flooded and cart path only. Not worth $60 per person by any means

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to experience this course. Bent grass fairways with a sandy base makes for AWESOME divots. The kind you see PGA pros make on t.v. On most courses, there is hard rock dirt under the grass, this makes your hands vibrate and sting at impact when it's dry and hard. Not at Hilldale. The grass itself is like a plush living room carpet. Walk on it and pay attention and you will know what I'm talking about. The greens are the BEST for the money. The greens are so fast and true, the ball almost never bounces.

This course is one of the few to have 10 minute tee times. On a Sunday, it can take you 4.5 to 5 hours but if you go to another local course, it can take you 5 to 6 hours to finish.

Traps are inconsistent. Not enough rakes. Some still had water in them a day after the rain.

Ball washers and water coolers were nice to have. 2 new bridges on hole 12 are very nice (1 for walkers cutting the dogleg).

I like the 1/2 way stand at the 10th tee. Mike runs the stand and has hot dogs, brats and Italian sausage and drinks.

The amenities are ok but I come for the golf and for the cost, it's the best within 40+ miles.

I understand they are trying to sell the course took 3 hrs to play 12 holes I quit no rangers to speed up play this is the 3rd and final time playing here needs new cart paths greens and fairways are great course has not had any up grades in years

The first day of spring that reach 80 plus degrees. The course was in good shape. It's a little early in the year for the greens to stand up to their true excellent roll. The traps were decent but the shortage of rakes in each trap made it difficult to rake each time. AND, the number of ball washers was minimal, if at all. I would suggest a washer at both the blue tees as well as the white tees.

For a Sunday afternoon, the pace of play was near perfect. It was a great day!

I used a Golf Now Hot Deal, there was only one left and it was at noon. I thought that I would be added to a threesome. Not. They sent me out as a single between foursomes. Really! Fortunately 2 guys bailed

after 9 in front of me because the wind was gusting at 30mph. Traps were awful, I don't think they've been groomed since last year. But I've played here for years and it can be very nice later in the season.
