About
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Highland Course at Lake Arrowhead weaves through rolling woodlands. Every hole offers unique scenery and stunning mountain views. The golf course was completely redesigned in 2008, which makes it one of Atlanta's younger courses; nevertheless it has quickly garnered a strong following amongst locals thanks to not only the challenging layout but also the affordable rates and beautiful setting. Lake Arrowhead's convenient location makes it even more appealing, it sits less than an hour north of Atlanta. The golf course features strategically placed bunkers and plenty of trees. It is a layout that requires careful course management. The 14th hole is arguably the most difficult. This tricky par 5 is known to test even the most skilled players.

Beautiful scenery!
This is a nice course in pretty good condition.
They have some sizable greens to build your con.
There are some strange hole layouts but all in all a pleasant experience.

Challenging Course
Course is beautifully set amongst mountain views. It is extremely challenging with narrow fairways and hazards throughout. This is not a course for beginners.

Delays and pace was really bad.
Had 12:40 tee time but they had huge tournament that started late 9:45. Log jam at tee box started us 50 minutes late then pace was horrible the whole round. Had to leave at 6;00 and had only played 14 holes with our 3 some, Everything else was great.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
The course is beautiful, but takes too long to play too many people
Way too many people…. It took 5+ hours to play 18 holes.

Enjoy the golf as much as the scenery
Just North of Atlanta at the start of the North Georgia mountains is a tough track, but the scenery w/ deer, wild turkey and well kept large greens softens the blows of some bogeys or worse. Front 9 will rough you up then you can make it up on the back until #18. Best value for your dollar around. The drive in to the course w/ the view of Lake Arrowhead kicks off a good day ahead. They are fixing the road in so that will be nice when complete.

Cool course
Nice scenic course with a good flow. Not impressed with the way other golfers show little respect for the course…not replacing divots, not raking the bunkers, etc. But overall, good golf for a good price.

Greens are excelent

Unforgiving at times
While there are plenty of "normal" holes on this course, there are a number of holes that average golfers will have a big challenge playing. I do believe I lost a few more balls than I found, so the horrors of the OB are livable. Good scores are quite a challenge for those new to the course, but I was impressed with the tees and greens. Give it a go, but don't say you weren't warned.

Excellent with a few Flaws
I live nearby and play the course often. LA is a wonderful prize in the GA mountains and a nice course with beautiful views Mgmt had done a nice job getting it in VG condition and I always enjoy it. There are two flaws that should be addressed. This course has virtually no ball washers, a simple item to correct, but it never gets fixed. Fairways are nice, went from Poor to VG but they still cut them too short...a chronic aggravation. I love the place but wish they could add washers and stop mowing fairways so short. Still a VG.

Lake Arrowhead is a great track!
This is a very challenging track!! You need to really put your shots in the right place or it will be very frustrating. I will definitely play this one again and again!!

Beautiful mountain course
Great course with great Mountain View. Bunkers need some TLC but overall conditions are good for a public course. Many improvements over the year.

Fun & Challenging Course
Had a great time playing here on a Sunday. Greens were quite fast. Condition of the course was good overall though a few greens and tee boxes were in need of some TLC but nothing too major. This course is pretty hard if you are a high handicapper like myself but still enjoyable. Leaves were starting to change, views were great, and staff was incredibly friendly. Only complaint was the group in front of us on the front nine. We had to wait on every single hole from 3-9 for quite a while due to their lack of urgency. Had two or three holes where we were waiting in the fairway after teeing off because they were on the green and the group behind us was waiting on the tee box. Major pileup. Luckily we got ahead of them at the turn and didn’t encounter much of a pace issue after that.

Was very impressed with just how friendly the staff was.From the time I checked in to the starter everyone was as nice as could be.The course itself is as challenging as you will find.Definitely need to play it again as now I have a feel for the layout.
