About
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Highland Course at Lake Arrowhead weaves through rolling woodlands. Every hole offers unique scenery and stunning mountain views. The golf course was completely redesigned in 2008, which makes it one of Atlanta's younger courses; nevertheless it has quickly garnered a strong following amongst locals thanks to not only the challenging layout but also the affordable rates and beautiful setting. Lake Arrowhead's convenient location makes it even more appealing, it sits less than an hour north of Atlanta. The golf course features strategically placed bunkers and plenty of trees. It is a layout that requires careful course management. The 14th hole is arguably the most difficult. This tricky par 5 is known to test even the most skilled players.

Great Course, just needs to jump to the 21st century
Love this course. My only real complaint is that the management has the bar cart employee trying to sell refreshments with cash only. Most people today don’t carry cash still. A simple electronic payment system would result in so many more sales and allow patrons of the course more ways to buy. Seems like a very easy fix to me.

Gorgeous day for some family golf
Couldn’t have had a better experience with those we came in contact with who worked for the club. The starter, Bob was helpful and encouraging. We met one ranger, Rick I believe and he was most helpful. The course was a little damp and CPO which we understood. The greens were a little “hairy” recovering from aeration in the last couple of weeks. Looking forward to getting back soon now that we know a great deal more about course management here!

Great course
Greens were a bit sandy but other than that, this course is challenging put fun to play. Staff is very friendly and the food at the clubhouse is delicious. I'll be returning to play soon!

Aerated Greens with sand
The greens were so insanely bad, they had piles of sand on the aerated greens. Nothing smoothed out. I contemplated the whole time asking for my money back it was that’d bad. A sherif drove by and shrugged and said sorry about that and left. Not worth the money in the slightest bit.
If you like a flat golf course, this one is definitely not for you. Be prepared to hit lots of sidehill/uphill and blind shots. The course has 3 or 4 holes with near impossible carries for mid/high handicappers. The greens were recently aerated and are heavily sanded (most sand I have ever experienced) and were basically unplayable on 9/7. Sand traps were un-raked and could use some of the sand that was dumped on the greens.
Wait a couple of weeks before booking there. The scenery will be spectacular when foliage season starts.

Best Condition I've seen it
Course was in great shape -best I've seen it in the 10 or so times I've played it, especially the greens. It's a tricky course with many blind/target shots but overall the views are amazing and it's never very busy. Fun course to play with each hole playing very different than the last.

Great course for the price
First time playing this course the other day. Course was in great condition! Greens rolling smooth and healthy. Some tee boxes were in rough shape but could find some good grass. Wasn’t in the bunkers during the round but they could use some attention and sand in some.

Exceptionally difficult
This course is overall very nice, but it’s a mountain course. I found the majority of holes to be very difficult. There are very few level holes. I would not return or recommend it. Also, the staff constantly harassed our foursome about the pace of play.

Slow play
Two 4 somes clogged the entire course. Paced for 5-6 hour round with 2 off ppl

Wide open spaces and views
Great to play Lake Arrowhead. No crowd during the week with a low price to enjoy it a speedy pace. Although it was hot, there were great mountain views, was plenty of water on the course and with some challenging holes, there were great opportunities to be rewarded with your shot. Will happily play here again!

Great mountain course
This was my first time playing at Lake Arrowhead. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The practice range and putting green were in excellent condition. The course has a great layout winding through the North Georgia foothills. My only complaints were on the condition of some of the greens and the bunkers. Some of the greens were “ate up” and I would say that members/players are not fixing their pitch marks at all or not correctly. Lots of little divots in the greens. The bunkers were not raked at all and look like they desperately needed sand added. Other than those two things, the course was excellent, challenging, and one I’d recommend to try.

Perfection in Waiting
LA is a beautiful mountain course with challenging holes and beautiful views. It is well maintained and operated. I play it often and like the course, layout, staff, and difficulty levels. Recommend they rework several holes with impossible shots for 80% of golfers over cavernous ravines that are overly challenging. Need to put ball washers on every hole in obvious locations. Not a lot to complain about other than fixing #5, an impossible hole. Still, overall outstanding!

Course needs some work
The course was in fair condition. The bunkers and tee boxes are in need of help.the greens were ok But what bothers me the most is the slow play mainly amongst the members in the morning that feel entitled to play as slow as they can and not even acknowledging to let singles or twosomes to play through even when there are no groups ahead within site of them. Very poor etiquette. I had to skip a hole because of it. There needs to be a Marshall on the course to control the pace of play.
