About
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Highland Course at Lake Arrowhead weaves through rolling woodlands. Every hole offers unique scenery and stunning mountain views. The golf course was completely redesigned in 2008, which makes it one of Atlanta's younger courses; nevertheless it has quickly garnered a strong following amongst locals thanks to not only the challenging layout but also the affordable rates and beautiful setting. Lake Arrowhead's convenient location makes it even more appealing, it sits less than an hour north of Atlanta. The golf course features strategically placed bunkers and plenty of trees. It is a layout that requires careful course management. The 14th hole is arguably the most difficult. This tricky par 5 is known to test even the most skilled players.

Course conditions
Course conditions were the worst in years. Bunkers are unplayable, surrounding areas seem neglected. We’re having severe heat and it has been crazy weather however the surrounding courses are in better shape.

One of the most beautiful golf courses in our area
Every time I come here, it makes me realize how beautiful these mountains really are! The last time I came, I was lucky enough to observe a beautifully colored timber rattlesnake, but this time I only saw deer and a bald eagle… Nevertheless, it was a great experience on an immaculate golf course!

Good course, bad customer service
A tee time was listed for 2 golfers online and after arriving we were paired up with a single. We paid to golf alone. In the future, please don’t list a tee time for 2 golfers only if you intend to group them up with others once they arrive. The Marshall also made us wait past our scheduled tee time to tee off because a group scheduled before us was late. The hosts at the club house refused to let my wife and I in to use the restroom or purchase water at the turn due to a private event. We paid $100 and drove 1 hour + away to be treated like we were intruding.

The course is very pretty and the fairways are mostly pretty wide.
Every green had dozens of ball marks; why don't other players fix their ball marks?!
There are many holes on the course that might be played differently on subsequent times on the course.
It's a tough but fair test of golf.

Tough course
Lake Arrowhead is a mountain type course. You will find very few flat lies, which makes it difficult. It is a beautiful layout and pretty well maintained. A number of the holes are forced to fit the terrain, particularly number 5 … it is a par 5 but requires a perfect downhill tee shot to get there in regulation. Have played there several times and like it but it is very hard to score well on.

great course
Very technical course, not a very long course, blacks are 7000+ yards, but very fun. This course is in some mountain territory, the ride in from the secured gate is about 10 minutes to the course, but very secluded and beautiful.
Staff was friendly and courteous and plenty of space between golf groups to play at a reasonable rate. We never felt that rushed. Price is great for what your get.

Good value and course conditions
This is a good, challenging course that doesn’t punish. My son and I are both high handicappers ( 90s), and were told in the pro shop that the course was VERY difficult. While I can totally understand why they would say that, it wasn’t as punishing as it could have been given the massive elevation changes. Perhaps it was the guidance that made me play safer than usual, or maybe the absolute disastrous pre- round range session, but I par’d more holes than usual (4) and had a great time. Would absolutely recommend.
