About
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Highland Course at Lake Arrowhead weaves through rolling woodlands. Every hole offers unique scenery and stunning mountain views. The golf course was completely redesigned in 2008, which makes it one of Atlanta's younger courses; nevertheless it has quickly garnered a strong following amongst locals thanks to not only the challenging layout but also the affordable rates and beautiful setting. Lake Arrowhead's convenient location makes it even more appealing, it sits less than an hour north of Atlanta. The golf course features strategically placed bunkers and plenty of trees. It is a layout that requires careful course management. The 14th hole is arguably the most difficult. This tricky par 5 is known to test even the most skilled players.

Great mountain course
This was my first time playing at Lake Arrowhead. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The practice range and putting green were in excellent condition. The course has a great layout winding through the North Georgia foothills. My only complaints were on the condition of some of the greens and the bunkers. Some of the greens were “ate up” and I would say that members/players are not fixing their pitch marks at all or not correctly. Lots of little divots in the greens. The bunkers were not raked at all and look like they desperately needed sand added. Other than those two things, the course was excellent, challenging, and one I’d recommend to try.
Perfection in Waiting
LA is a beautiful mountain course with challenging holes and beautiful views. It is well maintained and operated. I play it often and like the course, layout, staff, and difficulty levels. Recommend they rework several holes with impossible shots for 80% of golfers over cavernous ravines that are overly challenging. Need to put ball washers on every hole in obvious locations. Not a lot to complain about other than fixing #5, an impossible hole. Still, overall outstanding!

Course needs some work
The course was in fair condition. The bunkers and tee boxes are in need of help.the greens were ok But what bothers me the most is the slow play mainly amongst the members in the morning that feel entitled to play as slow as they can and not even acknowledging to let singles or twosomes to play through even when there are no groups ahead within site of them. Very poor etiquette. I had to skip a hole because of it. There needs to be a Marshall on the course to control the pace of play.

Overall experience was good. Course needed some TLC on some tee boxes and greens. Greens were cut long and very slow.

Needs work.
We were disappointed. No sand in all bunders. Teeing area is very rough with weeds. Green is satisfactory but slow. No shower facilities considering that this course is not just a regular public course. No control on players(dress code and really loud music).
A lady in the pro-shop and staffs were really very friendly and know the job.
Affordable course tucked away
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Carts and course layout were also great. You will lose 3-5 shots per side for course knowledge. The greens were in good shape and had some areas that were “eaten up” bit that was mostly around the edges. It looked like members and people that play do not repair their pitch marks and I tried to do 3-4 other than my own. I know it recently rained but the bunkers were in bad shape and needed additional sand and raking. Overall I enjoyed my round and the people and will play the course again.

Very nice course. Lots of ball marks on the greens.
They need more water jugs out on the course.
This course takes a bit of course knowledge to really score well...example: several long par 4 holes do not require a driver off the tee; in fact playing driver will penalize you, as the fairways run out into marsh or waste areas.

The sand traps are an absolute mess and totally unplayable. Some greens are excessively full of un-repaired ball mark / scars. Lastly some tee boxes need to be re-sodded. The greens did roll true but overall the maintenance needs to be stepped up.

Nice value, beautiful scenery!
I take writing reviews very seriously. In today’s economy it is difficult to run any business and adverse reviews that aren’t indicative can hurt a business. I like arrowhead. It’s not perfect but it’s a nice course for the price point with many pluses and a minus or two. It’s a great value on a hot deal and the ambiance is hard to argue with. The layout on a few holes I found to be a bit “cooky “. The greens were in better than average shape as were the fairways. Some tee boxes were really nice and others needed some help. The big minus is the sand traps. Sand in most was non existent. Not a deal breaker for the price point. I’m sure in time it will be addressed. Otherwise a great round for a great price!
