Lake Arrowhead Yacht & Country Club - Highlands Course

First time playing LAH. Great course for the money, Course layout very tough and have to pick the right club and shot. I would love to give a 5 star review, but was a little dispointed that there was a beverage cart on the course the weather was great and high 60's so didn't make sense. Also the bar in the clubhouse seemed out of sorts when we made the turn. They didn't seem to know what they had and were running around. Over all great course and great price for a Friday. Will be back.

This course has a very picturesque layout as it meanders through the rolling hills of North Georgia. Game play was steady with the holes being laid out in a manor to keep game play moving while providing a challenge for all levels of golfer. The greens were soft the day I played and lent to a very precise landing if attacked with a high approach. I would recommend the course and will certainly be back to play

This was the first time playing great challenging course and worth the price for a Friday. I would give 5 star but was a little disappointed with the bar/kitchen they didn't seemed prepared and what to offer. Also didn't understand why there wasn't a Bev cart on the course on a beautiful day. Besides that good day

Very interesting layout, what I would call quirky. First time playing, love the challenge. It is difficult, back 9 more forgiving. It’s a strategy/course management course, not a grip it and rip it course. Took a couple holes before you could pull driver. Beautiful scenery, true mountain course. A ton of elevation changes. A bunch of greens couldn’t see the surface on approach which I don’t like. Greens were awesome, a tad slow, but rolled true. Very undulating which makes you bring your putting A -game. Bunkers not in good shape and carts were borderline terrible. Would definitely play again now that I saw it for the first time.

Lake Arrowhead is out in the middle of nowhere so that’s why 1 star was given for off course amenities. The dining area is ok. However, that’s the last thing I can complain about. Nice practice area, big putting green, and everything is close together. The course layout is amazing. Long and short par 3’s and 4’s. Mountain View’s, wildlife walking around the course, and a lot of cleverly designed golf holes. Greens look great. They haven’t been fast yet, both they roll true. Your ball wont hop on you. My biggest regret is living in this area for 20 years and recently finding this place. Go, worth the drive.

If you want a challenging course this is it. Bring your A game. Be aware of the animal life, you my see bears, tigers, turkeys, or the occasional birdies. Really, this is an amazing course. Excellent price.

If not, everyone will find out how nice this course is and crowd us out. Eye candy everywhere. Great variation of holes. Affordable. Greens good. I gave 1 star off golf amenities because there are none. It’s out in the middle of nowhere. I drive a full hour and it’s worth it.

Glad this became a public course...close to home and beautiful

First, let me say that the course is absolutely gorgeous. Especially this time of year. It was one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen while playing 18. Weather conditions were difficult to say the least. Winds were a consistent 20 miles an hour throughout the day and the high for the day at the course was 43. So needless to say, certain holes were a bit brisk and chilly. Which leads me to the staff: absolutely outstanding !! Very pleasant, very willing to accommodate and when one of the players in our group had not dressed accordingly for the weather conditions, the staff gave him hand warmers so we could finish our round rather than quit at 9 holes. The vast majority of the holes were not affected by the adverse weather conditions, so it made the sound much more palatable. Two of the holes were especially challenging, but the other 16 were playable for all levels. Course and greens were in good shape and pace of play was more than acceptable. Whole hearted recommend this course, but weather conditions might be a factor in your level of enjoyment.

I had purchased an 11:50am tee time. When I checked into the course there was no mention of the Members tournament that was on the course or that they had a two hour frost delay. Neither of these two events is unusual, but they are important to my rating. I played the first four holes in 30mins as a single when I ran into the tournament. The tournament was playing at a SIX (6) hour pace with no intention of speeding up. I went into the clubhouse to get a rain check. I was promptly told "we dont get any of the TeeOff money. I would have to talk to Golf now." I did not ask for any money, just simply trying to play on a day where it would not be 6 -7 hours to play a round. I left the clubhouse furious, but returned. I told the staff i should not have stormed out, but again I was not asking for money just the ability to play. I said the GM could have simply said okay come back and pay the difference, but he did not. After I said this he agreed, but it was to late the damage was done in my mind. They really did not care about my experience on the course. If they told me about the tournament when I checked in I would not have even started the round. I drove 40mins for nothing!! I will not be returning to the course!!
