Lake Arrowhead Yacht & Country Club - Highlands Course

I’ve played over 60 different courses in GA and would rank it as No.1 most challenging & difficult course to play due to its elevational and slope change. Beside, each of the hole has its own hazard challenges and most of the greens are undulating.

Understandable that courses won’t always redo there pin positions each day, but this was ridiculous.

Pins didn’t look like they’d been moved in 4-5day and it was almost impossible to make a putt unless it was center cut. Not mentioning all the burnout (dead spots) your have to putt through. NEEDS WORK

I used this round strictly as a practice round because I played the back nine by myself and there weren't many on the course. It was also difficult to putt since they had recently aerated the greens and it was very rough so you really couldn't make a true putt.

Beautiful course. Specially in the evenings, but can be difficult on some holes for beginning to average players. Love it and will continue to go back.

1st time playing. the course. It was in good condition. Pace of play was slower than most. Hard to judge amenities, as they had a tournament that finished the day before. Consequently, their food menu was limited. Heading back again to see how things are with a second experience. This cours is some serious “target golf”!

It’s been 5 years since I played this course last, so I forgot some of the layout. This is a course you need to play more than once to get use to the fact that it is a mountain course. Puts will break up hill on some of the greens. Fantastic bentgrass greens, though they were almost too soft. Stick to the handicap suggestions on the first tee and you will really enjoy this layout.

Challenging course. You need to hit targets, Off target hits are punished. Playing here can make you a better golfer by exposing your weak points.

Nice mountain course and very challenging home. Greens and fairways were in very good shape. It was raining today when we played but fairways and green was not holding water, drainage was great.

I live in the Lake Arrowhead community, but you get no discount for living inside the resort. The past few years you could book a round at GolfNow for as cheap as $16 (including cart). In those days I could play on a Monday- Friday, hit 18 holes in about 2.5 hours. All these discounted tee times made it difficult for the course to afford proper maintenance. Some people thought that Lake Arrowhead was too far of a drive, so never came and played.

This year with Covid-19 golf courses became one of the only activities people could go out and do. The course began to get busy by the first of April and tee times actually sold out most days.

The course currently is in great shape for the most part. There are two or three greens that are having real issues, but the greens keepers are doing their best to fix the problems. The fairways are now filled in nicely. Tee boxes are the one thing that could be improved on dramatically. The course is extremely challenging, not a grip and rip type course. You have to be able to place your ball in the correct place on the fairway to have a next shot. Water hazards on almost every hole.

Overall I would give this course a 8.5/10 for condition and value.

My wife and I love this course. It has some serious and interesting challenges. When we play we try to beat our previous score (some times yes, some times no) We are intermediate golfers and the course plays well. We noticed for the first time today that the course greens are not being maintained up to par. Lots of dirt and we think fungus on the greens. The fairways also are quite hard and more difficult to play. We still love the course and the challenges it offers.

Absolutely love the course layout, difficulty/fairness level and incredible vistas. You are just wrapped in the most beautiful mountains!!! Even if my game is off, I’m positively distracted by the beautiful views.
