Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Worst condition ever
I used to like this course. However, the course is getting worse and worse every year. The course is poorly maintained or not maintained at all. Fairway and tee box are full of dirts and weeds. Each green has inconsistent rolls. I do not recommend it even if the price is less than $10 per round.
Rough all around
Course has deteriorated over the years and this was worst conditions I've seen. Many fairways were rough and in poor condition. Weeds off the fairways were high and encroaching onto the course. Can't take cart into lot to pick up clubs (which has always been the case) but still inconvenient. No beverage cart out on course on a day that was well into the 90s. Greens were slow and some patchy. I know it is a tough year for courses with the virus, but many others in the area in much better condition and operated.
The course needs attention
The fairways t boxes and greens are in serious need if attention. This course had a great deal of water in May and they haven’t taken care if damage
no kidding worst course
I have never seen a course in worse condition, it’s repulsive that they charge $40 a head. Standing water EVERYWHERE. I did not hit a shot on dry firm ground. Course design is a joke, most par 4s are short and tight, and I can’t help but feel like I’ve played 9-hole courses on larger pieces of property. When we made the turn, nobody was in the pro shop for us to buy drinks from. We waited for 20 minutes and just decided to throw some cash on the counter with hopes that we were covering what we purchased (which we found out as we teed off on 10 was spot on-to the penny) To top it all off the regulars all float around the course and play whatever hole they want, whether or not you’re pulling up to the tee box they’re pulling up to. When confronted, they pretend to be lost. 3 of them asked us if the hole we were on was the second hole. I award this course no points, and may god have mercy on the souls of those who play it.
Second worst course ever!
The place is just a mess! Mud everywhere, like teeing off on a marsh every hole. No markings for distance and patches of bare mud in the fairways and greens. The only other course as bad was a forest preserve course. This is not worth the money or time. Terrible!!!
Course in terrible shape. Not worth playing. Grass not cut in many places. Lost balls because grass too deep. Many areas have no grass due to flooding damage. Would not play there again.
Deplorable Condition
Fairways full of bare spots, tufts of grass and weeds, greens uneven and inconsistent are what you get at this course. It is way worse than your average muni, which is truly a shame for course that I can imagine was once pretty nice. I don't see how it can be restored any time in the near future, probably 2 years minimum? Stay away!
Poor coditions
The spring floods played havoc with the course. But that does not excuse the poor upkeep. Lots of little things would have helped. Grass could be maintained where possible. Tee boxes were poor. Greens are ok. I expected a resort course and got an poorly kept public course of old. Not a good value
Do not play this course
I used to play here a lot and it was always a challenging course and well maintained but it is clear that all of the allocated funds for the good course have been eliminated. Fairways full of dead spots. Tee boxes with weeds on them. Rough that had no consistency. Greens they were ridiculously slow. Skip this course, not what it used to be.
Don't waste your time and money
I have been playing golf for over 50 years at just about every kind of golf course there is. When I played here I actually thought I was going to ask for my money back. I never saw such terrible conditions in all my life for a place as prosperous as Marriott. Obviously they don't care too much about the golf course part as they do about getting clients in the hotel. I would say the course is unplayable Evan if you are playing well.
This Could Be The Last Time
While not a long course, we found this to be a little challenging for our level of play. Lots of water hazards and tight greens but our overall consensus was that management was slacking on maintenance. Fairways that used to be wider seemed like they narrowed and overgrowth was allowed to creep in. Fairway areas that may have flooded were barren except for copious varieties of weeds and wild grasses. It seemed like expenses for course maintenance were cut back on.
This course needs a huge amount of renovation and maintanence
I was very disappointed with the course conditions! Especially for a course associated with the Marriot Resort. I understand we are going through extreme times this year. Crane's has been operating with minimal staffing, we had a record amount of rain this May and the whole resort itself has been closed until recently. But, other courses, in fact most courses I play are in very good shape! I could list all the deficiencies and problems the course has, but they are too numerous to get into here. The whole resort needs a lot of work and attention!
Good Luck to the Marriot Corporation!
Fairways not in great shape
Fairways are not in great shape. I've heard related to floodings. Rough areas are not trim as it should be. .
Spring flooding has beat up this course. It really shouldn’t be open until more $$ can be put into it.
Great day
Hadn't played here in about 10yrs. Forgot what a good course this was. Even with recent floods and the warning from staff that the course was under repair, it was in very good shape. Clubhouse closed due to Covid19, but all in all a great day at Cranes Landing. I'll be back.
quick round
A good pace of play for a sunday, finished in just under 4 hours. Greens in great condition, a couple fairways along the river cart path only . Other than that not bad for a short course. 6200 yards.
