Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Do not play this course
I used to play here a lot and it was always a challenging course and well maintained but it is clear that all of the allocated funds for the good course have been eliminated. Fairways full of dead spots. Tee boxes with weeds on them. Rough that had no consistency. Greens they were ridiculously slow. Skip this course, not what it used to be.
Don't waste your time and money
I have been playing golf for over 50 years at just about every kind of golf course there is. When I played here I actually thought I was going to ask for my money back. I never saw such terrible conditions in all my life for a place as prosperous as Marriott. Obviously they don't care too much about the golf course part as they do about getting clients in the hotel. I would say the course is unplayable Evan if you are playing well.
This Could Be The Last Time
While not a long course, we found this to be a little challenging for our level of play. Lots of water hazards and tight greens but our overall consensus was that management was slacking on maintenance. Fairways that used to be wider seemed like they narrowed and overgrowth was allowed to creep in. Fairway areas that may have flooded were barren except for copious varieties of weeds and wild grasses. It seemed like expenses for course maintenance were cut back on.
This course needs a huge amount of renovation and maintanence
I was very disappointed with the course conditions! Especially for a course associated with the Marriot Resort. I understand we are going through extreme times this year. Crane's has been operating with minimal staffing, we had a record amount of rain this May and the whole resort itself has been closed until recently. But, other courses, in fact most courses I play are in very good shape! I could list all the deficiencies and problems the course has, but they are too numerous to get into here. The whole resort needs a lot of work and attention!
Good Luck to the Marriot Corporation!
Fairways not in great shape
Fairways are not in great shape. I've heard related to floodings. Rough areas are not trim as it should be. .
Spring flooding has beat up this course. It really shouldn’t be open until more $$ can be put into it.
Great day
Hadn't played here in about 10yrs. Forgot what a good course this was. Even with recent floods and the warning from staff that the course was under repair, it was in very good shape. Clubhouse closed due to Covid19, but all in all a great day at Cranes Landing. I'll be back.
quick round
A good pace of play for a sunday, finished in just under 4 hours. Greens in great condition, a couple fairways along the river cart path only . Other than that not bad for a short course. 6200 yards.
Cj Thut
Past flooding has left the back nine in terrible condition. Hole 17 has no grass. Layout is fun but they need to fix the fairways. Sorry $50 on a Sunday morning is still too much
Course not maintained at all
Paid full price for half a course. The grass on all the fairways were dead and The course was not maintained at all.
Could use a little TLC
The staff were friendly. The price was good. The course could use some TLC. I played here a few years before and the course was in much better shape. The pace of play was slow. We waited in each hole and eventually skipped 14-15-16.
Course in poor condition
The course was in very poor condition. Brown, crusty rough patches everywhere throughout the course. Holes shut down and very soggy. Fairways in rough shape. It’s as if they didn’t do any maintenance to the course during the pandemic and are still charging full price.
Worth $20
Haven’t played here in 2-3 years but it has taken a steep decline in quality of the track. There wasn’t one fairway that was in decent condition. Haven’t had rain in 6-7 days but there was still plenty of soggy fairways and many with little to zero living grass.
Also, they no longer have GPS carts. Definitely not worth $50.
Cranes Landing
just a terrible muddy, rain washed golf course. No effort by the course superintendent to get this course in any kind of acceptable shape. Not worth the $50, should be about $25. I want my money back
Damaged course
THE COURSE is beat up. Most fairways don't have grass. Tee box and greens are beat up very bad. Flooding damage everywhere. Some holes are cut short. Top two worst courses I've played at.
Don’t play here
This course was in horrible condition. It was a total waste of money and an afternoon.
It should be closed. The condition of this place is not acceptable.
It needs a tremendous amount of repairs to be playable.
