Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Course isn’t nearly what it used to be
I played this course 3x earlier when I was a teenager and it wasn’t nearly as manicured as it was 10-12 years ago. Used to have a country club type feel. I was very disappointed in the course as were the other 2 that played with me. Unfortunate, because it’s close by to where I live. Won’t be playing anymore.
Underwhelmed at best.
I was hoping for a nicely manicured course that was well taken care of. I suppose my expectations were high due to the location of the course in the norther burbs of Chicago which are home to some beautiful courses. However some of the fairways were just massacred and not fixed and several of the tee boxes were a disaster and just filled with crabgrass growing, not your usual tee box care.
The staff was awesome, very friendly, and accommodating. Our cart was not charged properly the night before so by the 11th hole it just wasn't moving properly. Called the shop from fairway and they brought a new cart as we were walking off the 11th green. Most likely would not play again this year. Maybe next year deending on maintenance.
5 1/2 hour round not worth the money
When we arrived we were told there was a slight delay no more than a few minutes, wound up being 30 minutes. Three groups on every hole throughout the entire round. Our cart wouldn’t go over two or three miles an hour and we got stuck multiple times in the terrible fairways. Called the pro shop twice with no answer. When we got back in after our round the cart attendant was talking to two other groups about
their cart troubles. Overall terrible experience we had a noon tee time and finished well after 5:30pm.
Crane'slanding
Greens in good shape; fairways not. Staff were very accomodating and helpful. Good value.
“When A Course Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade !”
Have played here 1-2 times a year for the past 5 years. I’ll cut to the chase : is it a true “Resort” course right now? Absolutely not - it looked and played today like your average hacker’s favorite muni. Many (but not all) of the slamming review comments are still valid today. But, if you keep your expectations at a realistic level, and especially if you can score a hot deal price like I did, you’ll be happy overall with your experience here, whereas if you pay full price, yeah you’re going to feel cheated and be upset. So just go with the flow, enjoy the fact you’re even able to get out and play right now (remember March / April, when you would have killed to play anywhere ?) and remember , YOU’RE still on the “right side of the grass” - and then you’ll have a good enough day here.
Look elsewhere
Just terrible all around. A card in the cart said they are working on the course conditions. No sign of this anywhere on the course. 5hr round to boot.
Eh
Eh. I don’t know how they can charge $50 to play here. I kinda feel like a sucker paying it. Would only recommend playing here if there are no other times available within 25 miles and you have the itch to play.
