Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Great staff and course in great shape
The moderate weather and good course maintainence has this course in great shape.
The staff was very helpful.
Rangers kept the pace moving.
Unrefined Mediocrity
I have played this course many times. The design is a tale of 2 different 9 hole courses. Short, relatively straightforward front 9, and long, challenging back 9 that requires a good bit of course knowledge. Nonetheless, the conditions on this course are rough, and have generally declined the past few years. Yes, the course flooded earlier in the year, but this has happened before with a much better recovery. Lots of bail out areas are unmaintained, and there are just many places on the course that play like a low end muni. The greens vary with speed, and there were tire marks from the greens mower, even at noon. The crowned greens really need maintenance to be fair, and not penal due to neglect. Yes, some bunkers have been rebuilt, as they formerly became ponds with each rain. Overall, the poor maintenance and greens sap the potential of this course to be as good as it could.
This course offered many different looks
I want to keep this a secret but Crane's Landing was in terrific shape and offered many different looks. The GPS on the carts was extremely helpful to average golfer like myself.
WELL MAINTAINED, CHALLENGING COURSE WITH A GPS SYSTEM TO HELP WITH YARDAGE.
FRONT NINE WAS SHORT,BUT TIGHT. BACK NINE HAD SOME LONG AND DIFFICULT PAR 4'S WITH DOG LEGS.
TEE OFF AREAS WERE FINE, GREENS WERE SMOOTH AND TRUE. PINS COULD HAVE BEEN MARKED BETTER FOR DISTINCTION (RED,BLACK,BLUE).
WATER AND SAND COME INTO PLAY ON MANY HOLES, AND IT TAKES A WHILE TO BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO THE CONDITIONS. MUST USE ALL THE CLUBS IN YOUR BAG!.
Great course for the price!!
I'm from Missouri and played this course on vacation. I was blown away by the friendly staff and course conditions. I'm not a great golfer but I really enjoyed playing here. I would recommend it to anyone.
Interesting Layout, Back tougher than the front...in my opinion
well kept, nice layout with some work need on the greens but it was wet. The GPS on the carts is a big help....with "flyovers" even...great stuff. DOn't need Driver on some holes that have drastic doglegs..............fun course near great restaurants so go grab lunch. The refreshment cart - Real Expensive - drink the water.
Good value
Have not played Crane's for a couple of years and was pleasantly pleased with the new upgrades. Very friendly staff and an overall enjoyable experience.
Good course, great value
very well kept, front 9 moderate/easy course; back 9 a bit more challenging. GPS in carts a nice touch. would play again certainly
Nice course & great staff!
Nice, well maintained course. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Will be back.
Great gps
Played a nice pace 18 holes; enjoyed the course very much. I would recommend this course it had plenty of water on many of the holes. From golf now was $23 per person.
Great course with a group of 4
Great experience! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They had our carts out and ready before we arrived. The GPS equipped carts were a nice addition to the round.
The front 9 is more open than the back 9, which has a lot of water hazards.
lots challenging holes. Great course.
I like this course. Lots challenging courses. Par 3 all of them challenging and pretty hard. I had 20 over. Not great for me. Looks tough. Love and challenging. Great features.
Great service - ok course
Staff were amazing and friendly, course is a bit boring.
A gem of a golf course that is readily accessibles
We have played Crane's Landing a few times many years ago and decided to pay it a visit for old times' sake. I don't recall it being this much nicer and so much better maintained. The management has done a tremendous job on this course. A friendly and very helpful staff did not hurt either. It should be an enjoyable and challenging course for all golfers from newbies to scratch players with different tee boxes to choose from.
Easy to Difficult
Unlike many courses, this one begins with relatively short, easy holes and gets more difficult as the round progresses. 8 (a par 4) and 9 (a short par 3) are challenging, 10 is a long par 4, 11 requires an excellent drive or you don't make it around the sharp dogleg to the right, 12 is a long, difficult par 3, 16 is a visually challenging and long par 3, 17 is a tough par 5 (dogleg to the left) and 18 is a long, tough par 4 requiring an accurate tee shot and second shot. A lot of false fronts and huge, undulating greens. A fun course!
Course conditions were very good. Par 4's are generally short and easy except for the three that stretch to 400-plus yards.
Par 3's are plenty challenging; some real long and others gettable with a good shot. Plenty of shot variety and really good views tee to green. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the course. We paid about $40 with an online deal which was a great price. The rack rate is $75 which I think is a little high - should be closer to $50. But we had a real good time, great staff service and good food in the clubhouse.y
A Great Golf Experience
A relatively challenging course that is well maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. For the deal offered, this course is a must play.
All skill levels
Keep your driver in your bag on most of the holes. Provides you a nice chance to practice your woods and irons. Good Luck
Price is right
Pace of play was great, good shape everywhere but some parts of the rough. Front nine is a lot shorter then the back, I'll play there again when I get a bargain through Golf Now.
Water will come into play
For $25 through golfnow, this was a decent course. You wouldn't expect it, but water comes into play almost every hole. Course was wide open midday Friday.
