About
Hapuna Golf Course stretches along the beautiful Kohala coastline before rising to over 700 feet above sea level. The snow-topped Mauna Kea volcano serves as a dramatic backdrop and there are seemingly endless views of the Pacific. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay collaborated to create a visually stunning links course that utilizes the natural contours of the landscape and silky fescue grasses. The design team has received praise for not only the challenge of the design but also for how seamlessly it blends into the existing environment. Palmer incorporated several risk-reward opportunities, especially with the par 5s, the14th is a good example. There are many ways to play this hole, which features a large ravine on the right and a wide, but shallow green. Long hitters can reach the green in two but short hitters prefer two shots and a par 3.

Good course
Good course. Glad GolfNow offered a Hot Deal or I probably wouldn't have sprung for it. It's not on the ocean, but there are ocean views on many holes. In other holes there are striking views of the up-country slopes of Mauna Loa. The course itself is quite hilly, which gave many holes character and made them tougher. Had to club up by two clubs on some uphill shots. But good course kept in really great shape.
Lack of Amenities
I understand the Covid issue and restrictions but not being able to have a beer and a bite after the round of
play was disappointing. Trecked down to the Westin.
Great layout and views
Always a treat to play this great resort course. Difficult but fair, a fabulous layout.
Haupuna
This course was a very beautiful course! A links style course! First 9 are all uphill, back 9 downhill! Bermuda grass does play a bit different! Greens were incredibly fast!
Beautiful course, some tough holes!
Enjoyed our round very much. Tough course when playing initially. Many blind shots great conditions and incredible views while playing.
Hapuna
After the first 4-5 holes, the course landscaping becomes monotonous. The maintenance and the green upkeeps are fabulous. Since this is a sister course of Mauna Kea, I can understand the reason the preference. The service quality is fabulous even under the Covid situation.
Too many blind shots!
Hapuna Golf course was in very good condition, but not a lot fun to play. I guess if you like a course with many "blind" shots it would be OK. There was no course map to see where to hit for blind shot targets. I was constantly getting in the cart and driving up hills to see what kind of danger was lurking. The course was extremely hilly with many side hill, up and down hill lies...I would not opt to play it again.
Very nice
The only issue I would have is that the rental clubs are too expensive

It is a very nice course great fairways greens were in great shape and very challenging. The only negative was the wind the day we played love the course.
Great Course
Great and fun course. Would rather play here than many of the ocean courses on the island.
Unfortunately it's the high season, and pace of play was difficult, but still a great course. Go play it!
